Foster Friday is high energy lover Abigail.

It’s Foster Friday, so check out sweet Abigail who is currently in foster (A163679) 😍🥰 This is what her foster has to say about her: “She loves attention, she is laid back for the most part. She plays for a little while when she is excited but also loves her sleep. (And she snores 😄). She is house trained but doesn’t ask to go out, we just periodically take her out. Super loving!” She also says that her idea of playing is basically rolling around (so cute!) and will play with toys a little. She is great with her teenaged son but have not had her around small children. Abigail is spayed, has her rabies vaccine, and a microchip, and her adoption fee is waived through March 31st for Bark Madness! If you’re interested in meeting Abigail, please complete the application, and one of our Adoption Counselors will contact you to schedule a time for you to come meet her. https://www.pasadenatx.gov/FormCenter/Animal-Adoption-and-Foster-Applications-10 Pasadena Adoption Center

Pasadena Fire Department statement about the fire yesterday at the INEOS petrochemical facility.

Around 12:15pm this afternoon, the Pasadena Fire Department was activated for a CIMA response near the intersection of state highway 225 and Sam Houston Parkway at INEOS petrochemical facility. For context, CIMA (Channel Industries Mutual Aid) is variety of both municipal and industrial emergency services from around the Greater Houston Area which provide resources during any large-scale emergencies along the Houston Ship Channel. First units on scene reported heavy fire and smoke conditions from a large petrochemical complex. Initial crews were assigned to the “Hot Zone” to isolate the fuel source of the fire. Pasadena Fire crews were assigned to assist those crews. The incident is believed to have been a BLEVE (Boiling Liquid Expanding Vapor Explosion) which is a phenomenon associated with liquified petroleum gas (LPG) storage tanks involved in fire conditions causing an overpressure of storage tanks. There is one reported injury transported by EMS and is listed as stable. Harris County Pollution Control reports there was no hazard to the public from this incident. This incident is under investigation by the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office and neighboring agencies.

A message was sent to all subscribers under ReadyPasadena as soon as Pasadena OEM was informed of this event. ReadyPasadena is a free service that allows individuals to receive notifications sent from local authorities to stay informed on potentially hazardous situations involving weather, traffic, chemical or other emergencies. PPD update on Chief the Bloodhound.

Look who stopped in to have his department photo taken this morning!

It has been a while since we have had a Chief update, and we wanted to share his progress with you all. As you can see, he is still growing and is now weighing in at 105 lbs. Chief recently attended and passed a four-week tracking school where he was able to track a 6-hour-old scent and locate it with flying colors. He was also able to complete a 3/4 mile track successfully. Although he still has much to learn, he is doing great. Oh, and did we mention he will be celebrating his 1st birthday this Thursday, March 23rd? Congratulations Chief and Happy early Birthday!

Pasadena ISD was recently recognized as one of only 23 school districts in Texas to earn the prestigious Award of Excellence in Financial Management. Established in 2020, the award is given to Texas school districts, open-enrollment charter schools, and education services centers that demonstrate professional standards, best practices, and innovations in the area of financial management and reporting. Trophies were presented at an awards reception during the TASBO annual conference in February.
The criteria to qualify for the Award of Excellence in Financial Management is stringent, based on financial accounting and reporting guidelines identified by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) Financial Accountability System Resource Guide (FASRG). Applicants must submit documents across 11 key areas, which are reviewed by a TASBO accounting subcommittee. These areas include:
finance department essentials
staffing & training
controls
budget management
processes
cash management
communications
financial reports
financial analysis and projections
external staff training
innovation (bonus points)
“These organizations have gone above and beyond to demonstrate transparency by meticulously documenting their districts’ policies and procedures,” said Tracy Ginsburg, TASBO Executive Director. “Not only have they showcased the ways they monitor spending, improve budgeting, implement controls, and enhance financial reporting, but they have shared their best practices with colleagues throughout Texas, helping even more educational organizations to better utilize taxpayer dollars.”
