How PPD’s new Police Service Officers are trained to handle a crisis like never before.

While nothing truly compares to real-life experiences, our new Police Service Officers (PSOs) were rigorously tested through high-stress, scenario-based training, guided by the Pasadena Police Department Crisis Negotiation Team. In these exercises, active listening and the ability to perform under pressure were crucial for identifying and addressing problems, transmitting vital information, and providing solutions. Mastering the skills of multitasking, clear communication, and balancing compassion with confidence is essential for serving our community effectively. The newly hired PSOs have been equipped with the necessary skills to perform their duties efficiently and effectively. We extend our sincere thanks to the Crisis Negotiation Team for their exceptional efforts in sharing their knowledge, which has greatly enhanced our team’s capabilities.
