March is Women’s History Month, and we want to recognize Anna Pomeroy! Anna Louise Kresta moved to Galveston from Austria and married Edward Payson Pomeroy. After the 1900 Hurricane, Anna, Edward, and their son moved to Pasadena. In 1901, they purchased 9 city lots at 204 S. Main Street in Pasadena from John Burnett. Their family helped start the Pasadena Independent School District and the First Baptist Church.
Anna initiated a successful petition campaign in 1928 where she went before the Houston City Council and prevented Houston from Annexing Pasadena. Thank you, Anna, for preserving this great city of Pasadena!
