PISD facts during Native American Heritage Month.

The Sioux word tipi translates as “used to live in.” In the 19th century, each tipi housed, on average, 8-10 adults and children. Tipis are made of long poles, hide or canvas, with rocks, pegs, or sod to hold the cover to the ground. Tipis are portable and adjust to different temperatures.
