January is a memorable month in Pasadena History!⏳
This month marks the 122nd anniversary of the Spindletop (located in Beaumont, Texas). The Spindletop produced over 100,000 barrels of oil, gushed black gold for nine days, and continued producing oil for a few decades. This geyser was the most powerful of its time and one of the first along the Texas Gulf Coast. Oil production and refining play a major role in our Pasadena economy. When you come to the Heritage Park and Museum, you can see a water well drilling machine that was used by the McMasters and Pomeroy Drilling company. This company drilled over 2,000 water wells all over Texas.
The Museum is open for visitors Tuesdays – Saturdays, from 9am-4pm. Visitors must sign-in at the office, in the Pomeroy House, before visiting any homes. If you prefer a guided tour, please make an appointment by calling us at 713-472-0565, or using our website (https://www.pasadenatx.gov/168/Museum), to schedule your appointment request!
