On Saturday January 25, 2025 Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for failing to yield the right of way to an emergency vehicle and for having a Texas license plate displayed that was canceled.
Deputies made contact with the driver of the vehicle who was identified as 42 year old Green, Kennis Wayne (left). Deputies observed an odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle and subsequently detained the driver and the two other occupants.
Deputies were able to compare the vehicle identification number connected to the license plate return and the vehicle identification number attached to the vehicle, which did not match. Deputies entered the vehicle identification number into the National crime information center (NCIC) which confirmed the vehicle to be stolen out of the Houston Police Department.
Kennis told deputies he rented the vehicle from a “dope fiend” for an undisclosed amount for a few days. Kennis was ultimately charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
One passenger was identified as 39 Perez, Gerardo (middle). Gerardo initially provided his younger brother’s name but deputies utilized the department issued mobile identification fingerprint system (AFIS) to positively identify him, which Gerardo had an open warrant for DWI in Colorado.
Another passenger was identified as 47 year old Smith, Yakeyma (right). Yakeyma was found to be in possession of numerous amounts of passports, driver’s licenses, and US citizenship cards. Yakeyma was arrested for fraudulent possession of identification documents.
All three were charged and transported to Harris County jail without incident.
Please stay safe, pull over and God bless.
