(all subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty)
On Sunday, June 15th, at approximately 2:04AM, Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Spencer and Canada for a minor crash. Officers arrived and contacted one of the parties involved in the crash. That individual told Officers the second party in the crash walked away from the scene before Officers arrived. The individual said the second party appeared to be intoxicated. Officers located this person next to the Discount Tire store. The person told Officers that she had not been involved in an accident and that she was simply walking to her grandmother’s house. However, the registered owner of the second vehicle involved in the accident did return to this same individual. This person also matched the description given by the other party involved in the crash. Officers did notice slurred speech and a strong odor of alcohol on this person. Given the totality of circumstances, the individual was placed into custody for suspicion of Driving While Intoxicated. The HCDAO was contacted and the charge of Felony Driving While Intoxicated – 3rd offense was accepted.
