Earlier this year, the Pasadena Police Department was proud to host our first Special Response Group basic training school. The week-long course, which was attended by over 80 officers from 13 agencies, was both physically and mentally taxing. Officers were challenged to think critically in large, group event scenarios, while learning to work alongside assets like mounted patrol. Participants learned about new equipment, moving in formation and a type of situational awareness that is quite different than what is typically experienced on patrol. The name of the game was teamwork and, while they may have started the week as 13 different agencies, they ended it as one united front.
We would like to extend our gratitude to the countless instructors from various agencies who helped make this school a success. The participants are not the only ones who walked away from this school with newfound skills and knowledge.
