HARRIS COUNTY PRECINCT 2 DEPUTIES ARREST AN INDIVIDUAL FOR SHOPLIFTING AT A LOCAL DOLLAR GENERAL
On Sunday August 10, 2025, deputies were dispatched to Dollar General located at 8005 Fuqua St. for an individual causing a disturbance with Dollar General employee.
Upon arrival deputies were flagged down by an employee from the dollar general who advised that the individual had fled the scene on foot.
Deputies obtained a description of the individual, deputies searched the area and were able to locate and detain the individual fitting the description given.
Deputies returned to the scene of the incident where the employee positively identified the individual. Deputies reviewed video footage and observed the individual pass all points of sale with a shopping cart full of merchandise. Deputies were able to positively identify the individual as 66 year old Cheryl Powell.
Deputies contacted the Harris County District attorney’s office and relayed the facts of this case and accepted the charges of theft on Powell who was arrested and booked into Harris County jail without further incident.
