• On Friday, August 8th, at approximately 3:37PM, an officer initiated a traffic stop in the 2300 block of Sens for an observed traffic violation. The driver of the vehicle could not provide a driver’s license but did claim to have one and provided the officer with a driver’s license number. Furthermore, the driver was unable to provide proof of insurance. A check of the driver’s license number revealed that the driver had a suspended license due to a prior conviction for Driving While License Invalid. The HCDAO was contacted and a charge of Driving While License Invalid was accepted.
• On Friday, August 8th, at approximately 5:56PM, an officer initiated a traffic stop in the 600 block of E G Street for an observed traffic violation. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle provided a driver’s license that was later found to be “not eligible.” The driver also had an outstanding warrant from the Pasadena Police Department. The driver told the officer that she had just been released from jail on an unrelated narcotics charge. With this information, the officer detained the subject and called for the La Porte Police Department K9 unit to perform an open-air sniff of the vehicle. The driver told the officer there might be marijuana in the vehicle. The K9 alerted on the vehicle, and a probable cause search was conducted. Officers located a cigarette carton on the dashboard that contained a small plastic bag containing a substance consistent with marijuana. The driver was arrested for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Driving While License Invalid.
• On Sunday, August 10th, at approximately 5:00PM, an officer initiated a traffic stop in the 12400 block of SH 225 for an observed traffic violation. The driver was contacted and provided the officer with a Texas driver’s license. A check of the license revealed it to be ineligible due to four previous convictions for Driving While License Invalid. The driver was arrested for Driving While License Invalid.
• On Monday, August 11th, at approximately 9:30AM, an officer initiated a traffic stop in the 100 block of S 11th for an observed traffic violation. The driver was contacted but could not provide a driver’s license or proof of insurance. A check of the driver revealed four (4) prior suspensions of her license for Driving While License Invalid. The driver was arrested for Driving While License Invalid.
• On Monday, August 11th, at approximately 7:30PM, an officer initiated a traffic stop in the 10500 block of SH 225 for an observed traffic violation. The driver was contacted and provided the officer with a Texas driver’s license. A check of the license revealed it to be ineligible due to a Safety Responsibility suspension. The driver was arrested for Driving While License Invalid.
• On Tuesday, August 12th, at approximately 11:00AM, an officer initiated a traffic stop in the 1700 block of Sens for an observed traffic violation. The driver was contacted but could only provide the officer with a Texas ID card. The officer asked the driver to exit the vehicle, and while he was getting out, the driver dropped a glass pipe commonly used to smoke illegal narcotics. The pipe did contain a residue consistent with methamphetamine. The driver was subsequently arrested for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
• On Tuesday, August 12th, at approximately 10:00AM, an officer initiated a traffic stop in the 1800 block of W Main for an observed traffic violation. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of marijuana. The driver told the officer she was smoking marijuana in the vehicle prior to the stop. A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed 43 grams of marijuana contained in plastic bags found in multiple locations of the vehicle. The driver was arrested for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
• On Tuesday, August 12th, at approximately 7:00PM, an officer initiated a traffic stop in the 3100 block of Valley Brook for an observed traffic violation. The driver and sole occupant was contacted but could not provide a driver’s license. A check of the driver’s record showed his license to be suspended for multiple reasons, including a current suspension for Driving While License Invalid. The HCDAO was contacted and a charge of Driving While License Invalid was accepted.
• On Tuesday, August 12th, at approximately 8:18PM, an officer initiated a traffic stop on a bicyclist for an observed equipment violation. The bicyclist was wearing a black bag across his chest. The officer asked for consent to search the bag, and the subject told the officer there were needles and methamphetamine inside the black bag. The officer did locate a clear plastic baggie containing a crystal-like substance consistent with methamphetamine, along with seven (7) syringes and a black THC vape. The HCDAO was contacted and the charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance – Penalty Group I was accepted.
• On Wednesday, August 13th, at approximately 12:19 AM, an officer initiated a traffic stop in the 10700 block of Spencer for an observed equipment violation. The driver and sole occupant was contacted and provided a valid Texas driver’s license. A check of the driver revealed an outstanding Felony warrant out of Galveston County for Possession of a Controlled Substance – Penalty Group I. The driver was taken into custody for the outstanding warrant.
