On June 11, 2025, at approximately 1609 hours, Sgt. M. Self was dispatched to an assault call at the 16400 block of El Camino Real. Sgt. M. Self arrived on scene and met with the victim and witness. Both stated that while unloading plants from their vehicle they observed a white male, wearing a red backpack, black shirt and dark colored jeans walking through the parking lot. The victim advised while she turned her back to reach into the rear of her vehicle, the unidentified male ran behind her and struck her behind the left ear and neck area, and left shoulder blade causing her pain and discomfort. Immediately after, the suspect started running after the witness. The witness was able to run to the front of her vehicle and avoid the suspect. The victim and witness stated the male suspect then walked across the street, where they lost visual of him.
Deputies A. Bullock and S. Ahmed arrived on location and spoke to the manager who obtained security footage of the assault. Sgt. M. Self observed a male matching the description walking through the parking lot of a business, located at the 1000 block of Bay Area Blvd. Sgt. M. Self along with Deputies A. Bullock and S. Ahmed were able to make contact with the male and safely detain him. The male was identified as 26-year-old Anthony Joseph Carignan. A check of Carignan’s information showed him to have an active warrant through the Harris County Sheriff’s Office for “Criminal Mischief”. Carignan was transported back to the scene where he was positively identified.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted, and the charge of Assault was accepted. Carignan was transported to the Harris County Joint Processing Center where he was booked without incident.
