After nearly two years in a tent, a resilient woman finally received the compassionate help from Precinct 2 she needed to seek a safer future ahead.

HOMELESS FEMALE RECEIVES THE HELP SHE NEEDS

Precinct 2 Constable Jerry Garcia’s Office received information about an adult displaced female living alongside the feeder road near the 13000 block of East Freeway. Councilman Fred Flickinger’s Office reached out and asked our office to look into the matter. Pct. 2 patrol deputies arrived at the location and immediately began to assess the living conditions.

The female lived inside a makeshift tent for nearly two years, and despite the recent warm weather, last year’s freezing conditions, she never left this location. Deputies gained the trust of this lively woman, who showed physical signs in need of medical attention. Deputies acted quickly and notified Houston EMS. Deputies also determined signs of mental health concerns were present and assured her that deputies would remain by her side to see that she received the help she needed. She was transported to a nearby hospital. An emergency detention order for mental health was completed and submitted at the hospital.

Our office will do our very best to follow developments of this matter in hopes that the situation does not repeat itself. Thank you, everyone. Please be safe, and God bless!
