Now that the new year is well underway, we want to highlight the efforts of our Pasadena Police patrol officers in keeping our community safe during New Year’s Eve celebrations.
While many were ringing in the new year, our officers responded to numerous calls about illegal celebratory gunfire throughout the city. Their proactive efforts led to multiple arrests and the seizure of several firearms from individuals who chose to celebrate dangerously by discharging weapons.
At an apartment complex, officers arrested multiple individuals after reports of gunfire. In another incident, officers recovered handguns, shotguns, and rifles from individuals illegally discharging weapons. Most concerning, a stray bullet penetrated a window at a local church during their midnight service.
We recognize and appreciate the dedication of our patrol officers in addressing this serious safety issue. Their enforcement efforts play a crucial role in protecting our community from the dangers of celebratory gunfire. Remember—what goes up must come down, and bullets fired into the air can cause serious injury or even death.
The Pasadena Police Department remains committed to taking enforcement action against illegal firearm discharge to keep our community safe.
