As temperatures cool some local wildlife tend to go dormant and hide from the wind and elements. Very few mammals hibernate in Texas because of our mild climate. Reptiles like alligators and turtles do not hibernate, but they do go into a lethargic state called brumation. This mamma gator prepared for the cold by digging a hole to create a den that she and her little ones can use to regulate their temperatures in both the hotter and cooler weather.
