Cristen the 🤡 learned the hard way that crime doesn’t pay on Precinct 8’s watch because she was busted trying to steal almost nine hundred bucks in merch at Kroger’s Clear Lake.

On Tuesday, February 25, 2025, Precinct 8 Deputy Cartlidge responded to a theft in progress at Kroger’s located in the 16400 block of El Camino Real in Houston. Upon arrival, Deputy Cartlidge met with store security and the complainant, who reported that a female suspect left the store without paying for a large quantity of merchandise.

Store security apprehended the suspect in the parking lot and escorted her back into the store, where she was identified as Cristen Johnson, 43 of Houston. Johnson was found to have stolen $897.71 worth of merchandise, including various household goods, clothing items, flowers and groceries. During the investigation, Johnson was found to have three previous convictions for theft in Galveston and Harris Counties.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted, and accepted the charge of Theft <$2500 with Two Previous Convictions. She was taken into custody, transported to the Harris County Joint Processing Center, and booked into jail without further incident.
