Remaining days:
• Monday, 4/28 from 8am to 5pm
• Tuesday, 4/29 from 8am to 5pm.

Election Day is Saturday, May 3, 2025 – 7am to 7pm – City Hall, Council Chambers

There are only two measures on the ballot since the mayor and council positions are uncontested.

The measures relate to the special tax districts supporting public safety – Crime Control & Prevention and Fire Control Prevention and Emergency Medical Services District (which supports the Volunteer Fire Department, Fire Marshal’s Office and EMS). The two measures are for renewal of the each district for 20 years and renewal of each associated ¼ cent sales tax for the same period.

The two districts were voted into existence in 2011 by the voters and renewed again in 2016 for 10 years and up for renewal again in 2025.
The ¼ cent sales tax for the Fire Control Prevention and EMS District is necessary to support the 100% volunteer fire department in purchase personal protective equipment, obtaining emergency communication equipment and maintaining fire and rescue tools, which are required for handling emergencies effectively.
The ¼ cent sales tax for the Crime Control & Prevention District has contributed to various aspects of the Police department including supporting addition of staffing positions, the acquisition of vehicles and purchase of investigative hardware and software. It has improved the department’s capabilities and its services to the community.

Voting “For” means that district(s) and their ¼ cent sales tax will continue for another 20 years.

Voting “Against” means that the district(s) and their funding will expire in May 2026.
