Recently, Officer J.D. Nitchman and Crossing Guard Dean Harrison were recognized as American Legion Post 319 Officer of the Year and Crossing Guard of the Year, respectively. Officer Nitchman, our K-9 handler, has conducted numerous traffic stops resulting in the seizure of various guns and narcotics. Officer Nitchman’s commitment and determination to remove firearms and narcotics from the streets make him the perfect recipient of this prestigious award. Crossing Guard Dean Harrison has been crossing our school children since 2012. Dean can be found at his post rain or shine and rarely takes a day off. Deans efforts and seriousness about his job are greatly appreciated by both the school district and the police department. His commitment and dedication to the students are a positive reflection not only of himself but also all of the Deer Park Police Department Crossing Guards and the City of Deer Park as a whole.
