Fence fails to hide Charles’s drugs.

September 29, 2026 — Deputies were patrolling the 8300 block of Broadway Street when they observed a male handling a clear plastic baggie containing a crystal-like rock substance.

Deputies initiated a stop and made contact with the male. During the encounter, the male threw the baggie over a fence in an apparent attempt to dispose of the evidence. Deputies attempted to detain the male, at which time he resisted. Following a brief struggle, deputies were able to detain him.

The male was identified as 61-year-old Charles Duke. After being advised of his Miranda rights, Duke admitted the substance belonged to him.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office accepted charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Tampering with Evidence. Duke was transported to the Harris County Jail, where he was booked on the charges.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
