At approximately 2:40 AM this morning, Precinct 8 Deputy P. Gonzales was on patrol in the 13500 block of the Gulf Freeway when he observed a white Nissan Sentra traveling at a high rate of speed. He verified the vehicle’s speed at 99 MPH in a 65 MPH zone. Deputy Gonzales further observed the driver of the vehicle failing to signal lane changes and failing to drive in a single lane. As he attempted to conduct a traffic stop by activating his emergency lights and siren, the driver, identified as 36 year old Jessica Miller, failed to stop and accelerated in an apparent attempt to evade. Miller exited and re-entered the freeway several times before finally coming to a stop in a parking lot.
Through on-scene investigation, Deputy Gonzales determined Miller was intoxicated and she was placed in custody. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and accepted charges of Driving While Intoxicated and Evading in a Motor Vehicle. She was transported to the Harris County Joint Processing Center for booking without further incident. Bond has not yet been set in this case.
