Where do I begin?

I always wanted to be a teacher. As a young girl, I loved learning and especially loved math. What I didn’t know then was where that dream would take me or the incredible people I would meet along the way.

My journey in Pasadena ISD began in 2001 at San Jacinto Intermediate under Principal David Post. Looking back, I had no idea that one opportunity would lead to a career filled with amazing students, dedicated educators, supportive families, and friendships that would last a lifetime.

I fell in love with Pasadena ISD from the very beginning. It was a district that believed in kids and believed in its people. It was a place where hard work mattered and where educators were given opportunities to grow. I am grateful that I was one of those people.

Years later, I had the privilege of returning to San Jacinto as an assistant principal. To come back to the school that first gave me a chance as a teacher meant more than I can put into words. It was there that I learned one of the most important lessons of my career: helping teachers grow is one of the best ways to help students succeed.

Along the way, I was blessed to have mentors who believed in me. One of those mentors was Diana Walker. Diana taught me to speak from the heart, even when my voice was shaking. She challenged me to be courageous, authentic, and to never forget that leadership is about people. Her influence helped shape the leader I became.

One of the greatest honors of my career was being named the founding principal of Kendrick Middle School. Opening a new school was both exciting and challenging, but it gave us the opportunity to build something special together.

When people ask about Kendrick’s success, my answer is simple: Kendrick thrived because our teachers believed in our students, and I believed in our teachers.

Everything we accomplished grew from that belief.

I want to thank Pasadena ISD administration for their trust and support throughout my career. I want to thank every teacher, staff member, student, parent, and community member who helped make Kendrick such a special place.

As I step into retirement because of health reasons, my heart is full of gratitude. Thank you for the time, energy, encouragement, and love you poured into our students and our school. They are better because of you.

And if I’m being honest, so am I.

While I may be retiring, I know the work will continue. The foundation is strong, and I have complete confidence in those who will carry it forward.

Thank you for allowing me to be part of this incredible journey. Serving this community has been one of the greatest blessings of my life, and I will always be grateful.
