The Chamber morns Marie Flickinger who lit up our community with her unwavering spirit, turning challenges into opportunities and leaving an indelible mark on education.

We are saddened to hear of the passing of Marie Flickinger, a community advocate for our region for decades. She certainly leaves behind a legacy of passion and service for education and will be missed. Our prayers are with the entire family and we will share service arrangements as we have them.
Today, we lost a true champion for San Jacinto College. Marie Flickinger served this institution and its students with heart and compassion for nearly 30 years. She was a fierce advocate for student success and worked tirelessly alongside the College and her fellow Board members to remove barriers for students to earn their higher education credentials. She was passionate about the work being done at San Jacinto College; her dedication to San Jacinto College will leave a legacy.
Our hearts are with her husband, David, her sons, Fred and Davey, and the entire Flickinger family.

Pastor Orlin McClain crafted a legacy of love and kindness, inspiring all who visited The Heritage Coffee House to cherish life’s simple pleasures.

Pasadena Friends:
We are so saddened by the passing of Pastor Orlin McClain. We just celebrated the opening of his amazing business, The Heritage Coffee House, a few weeks ago. Orlin was an amazing man. At his grand opening, I remember him showing us the back room of his business, which use to be the house he grew up in. His wife walked in and said she loved to go in there and smell the coffee and the wood that Orlin had back there. He built everything in that shop with his own two hands. He was very kind, and he loved his family, that was something you could tell instantly.

We have seen that The Heritage Coffee House will be opening back up. Please like the page and lets continue to show our love and support to the business that he just opened, and loved so dearly!

Viewing and funeral information is below. Let’s please keep his wife, children, grandchildren, family and the many, many friends who loved and adored him in our prayers.

Rest in peace Pastor Orlin, your Pasadena Family will never forget you!

Thank you so much to everyone who attended our annual State of Education Luncheon featuring Dr. Richard Walker from the University of Houston Clear Lake, Dr. Brenda Hellyer from San Jacinto College and Dr. DeeAnn Powell from Pasadena Independent School District.

This luncheon was one for the record books! We started off with the drumline from Pasadena High School Eagles and mascots Hunter the Hawk from UHCL and Poe the Raven from SJC. The audience loved the energy to start the program.

The Chamber remembers the great Terry Brotherton for his dedication to Pasadena and the captivating stories he shared.

It is with great sadness that we share our dear friend and loyal chamber supporter Terry Brotherton passed away. Terry will forever be remembered for his service to Pasadena and the non-profit organizations that he volunteered with but most notably for his memory and storytelling ability. As a former Chamber Chairman of the Board and Pasadena Citizen of the Year, Terry modeled excellence and leadership that we can all learn from. When interviewing Terry we asked what his favorite memory was as Chairmen and he shared it was bringing Michael Berry and Michael Garfield to come speak at chamber luncheons” He loved bringing people to Pasadena to show off our city! Terry also shared the most rewarding part of serving was “joining a group of revered community leaders who had previously served.” Terry deeply respected the leaders who came before him and his legacy will live on as we deeply respect his service to Pasadena. We look forward to celebrating his life and will share arrangements as soon as we have it available. Please keep his family and friends in your prayers during this time as our community mourns the loss of a great citizen, volunteer and friend. To help honor Terry’s legacy of story telling, we invite to share some of your favorite memories and stories shared with our friend Terry!

Due to the impact of Hurricane Beryl on our community, we have made the unfortunate decision to postpone the State of the Precinct Luncheon originally scheduled for Thursday, July 11th with Commissioner Garcia. Our focus at this time is on supporting the restoration efforts in Harris County and ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone impacted.

We have confirmed that the new date will be Wednesday, July 17th. If there is anything you need assistance with or if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Your chamber is here to support you in any way we can.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this time. This joint event among seven chambers was a sold out record crowd at 700 registered to attend and we look forward to seeing you on the 17th so we can gather to network and hear a Precinct 2 update!

We are grateful to all those who are tirelessly working in the field to restore power and homes throughout our region. Your efforts are greatly appreciated during this challenging period.

Please stay safe and take care.
