Deputies at Constable Jerry Garcia’s office, responded to a report of a homeless encampment alongside the Sims Bayou. This location has a trespass affidavit on file, prohibiting unauthorized individuals from being on-site.

When asked to provide identification for a written trespass warning, the male gave a false name. Deputies utilized the Mobile AFIS device and positively identified him as Joseph III Morris.

A records check revealed that Morris had two active felony warrants issued by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. He was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance. PPD three day adventure, officers bond with fierce fur-missiles, transforming them into elite crime-fighting companions against all odds.

🐕 “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend” – Corey Ford

With the knowledge that you’re working alongside a dog with a bite force comparable to a rhinoceros balancing on a postage stamp, Police K9 Decoy School is not for the faint of heart. Despite the inevitable bumps and bruises our officers acquire along the way, there is always a line of volunteers to work with the department’s goodest boys.

Over a three-day class, decoys and canine handlers, put our dogs through a series of challenges that push their snoots and stamina to greater limits. You can’t have an effective canine without a knowledgeable decoy on the other end of a scent trail, so the class aims to increase the officer’s understanding of the science behind our dogs and how best to strengthen those instincts.

Handlers and their four-legged partners participate in simulations that prepare them for building search and clearing, vehicle extractions, pre-bite recall and full sprint foot pursuits and take downs. Like all of the items on our duty belts, police canines are a tool that, when effectively utilized, can bring an end to high-risk situations.

Educating our decoy officers plays a vital role in the effective training and utilization of our living, breathing fur-missiles. The love and respect for these slobbery members of our department extends far beyond the select few who get to lint roll fur off their uniforms.

🍎 A Word a Day Keeps Boredom Away! 📖

Last week, several of our officers, alongside our Chief, J.M. Wright, visited with third grade students at Sparks Elementary. Graciously donated by the Pasadena Rotary, every third grader was provided a dictionary, in hopes that it will become a tool they will utilize throughout the duration of their education. Volunteers that assisted in handing out the dictionaries each took a moment to talk about the importance of reading, literacy and heightened vocabulary, as these kids make their way through life.

Pasadena officers are fortunate to take part in this event every year. Seeing as report writing is such a huge part of our jobs, we are all proponents of articulate speech and can’t wait to watch this next generation thrive! Earlier this month, JROTC and FFA students from area schools had the unique opportunity to attend an Army demonstration at the Pasadena Rodeo Arena. The U.S. Army 1st Cavalry Division Horse Cavalry Detachment from Fort Cavazos took students back in time with a demonstration that highlighted the history of the United States Army, which dates back to the Revolutionary War.

The US Army will be celebrating its 250th birthday on June 14, 2025, so this event served to commemorate the Army’s distinguished service to our nation, as well as offer students some perspective into the vast changes brought about by technology. PPD had a great day celebrating Read Across America with PISD kids reading stories and booping JJ’s snoot.

Oh, look who it is – what a wonderful treat!
We brought some good stories and friends to meet!

The Officers showed up, they’re here; hoo-ray,
To read to the children on this special day.

And who else was there with a wag and a grin?
JJ of course! Let the fun begin!

JJ sat still as the kids gathered near,
He was excited for all the stories they’d hear.

He sat so quiet as the kids read aloud,
They were all so smart; this made him so proud!

He watched their fingers raise up really high,
They booped all the snoots pointed up toward the sky.

So he stuck his nose straight up high in the air
And his snoot got booped by these booper extraordinaires!

The class was filled with giggles and laughter
And together they read the book’s final chapter.

We all said goodbye, but please have no fear,
Read Across America will be back next year!

📕📘Thank you, Pasadena Independent School District, for allowing us to participate in Read Across America with you!📘📕

Precinct 8 Deputy Cartlidge nabbed a scammer with fake IDs at Best Buy in Webster, proving crime doesn’t pay – except for the 🤡.

On March 12, 2025, at approximately 4:10 PM, Deputy Cartlidge responded to a possible fraud call at the Best Buy located in the 19400 block of the Gulf Freeway in Webster. The call originated from a store employee who reported that an individual was attempting to obtain a Best Buy credit card and a loan using a potentially fraudulent identification card.

Upon arrival, Deputy Cartlidge met with the complainant, who explained that the individual provided a Louisiana Driver’s License but claimed a different name and address, raising concerns among store employees. The financial institutions ultimately denied the individual’s applications due to suspected fraudulent activity. A store device used to verify identification documents also indicated that the Louisiana driver’s license was likely fake.

While speaking with the complainant, Deputy Cartlidge observed an individual matching the provided description exiting the store. When approached for questioning, the individual initially denied having any identification but was reminded that he had just provided one to the store. As Deputy Cartlidge investigated the possible use of fraudulent identification, the suspect suddenly fled on foot. Deputy Cartlidge gave chase and deployed his department-issued Taser, successfully apprehending the suspect. He was identified as Chris Obaze 21-year-old, B/M, of Richmond, TX. A subsequent search of Obaze’s person revealed three fraudulent driver’s licenses, one from Louisiana and two from California, each bearing different names but featuring his photograph.

Further investigation confirmed that the names and birth dates on the fake identifications belonged to real individuals who were unaware of Obaze or his possession of their personal information. All three victims stated they had never been to Houston and wanted to pursue charges.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and accepted the charges of Fraudulent Use or Possession of Identifying Information (5-9 It

“Smishing” is on the rise. This tactic is a combination of “SMS” (short message service) and “phishing” .

Recently, scammers are sending text messages telling people they have unpaid tolls. Clicking on the link in the text message brings users to fake websites designed to steal users’ personal data, including credit card, bank, or Social Security information.

Keep your information safe:

❗️Don’t click on any links or respond to any texts that are from an unknown number.

❗️Report and delete spam text messages.

La Porte Police charge suspect with felony possession of child pornography

In November of 2024, Detectives from La Porte Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division began to explore an allegation of child pornographic material being downloaded. Through their affiliation with the Houston Metro Internet Crimes Against Children’s Federal task force, the investigation revealed the downloads were occurring at a residence in La Porte, with the suspect identified as 35-year-old Kody Caleb Smith.

A search warrant was subsequently executed at Smith’s Seabrook residence for the purpose of locating evidence related to the unlawful downloading activity. Smith confessed to downloading the child pornographic material, and the investigation confirmed approximately 77 total files/videos of child pornography had been downloaded by Smith at his La Porte residence, prior to his moving to the Seabrook area. Smith, employed with the La Porte Independent School District, resigned the following day.

Investigators confirmed all pornographic material was taken from dark sites on the internet, therefore there is no reason to believe there are any child victims in La Porte related to this investigation. Smith was charged with three counts of 1st degree felony possession or promotion of child pornography through the Harris County District Attorney’s office on March 5, 2025, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Mayor Jeff Wagner’s final State of the City address celebrated Pasadena’s impressive public safety advancements, showcasing remarkable dedication to the community and its officers.

The State of the City address was held on Thursday, February 20th. This was a special one as it is the last address where our current Mayor, Jeff Wagner, is the guest of honor. As such, I would like to take the time to address significant advancements in public safety for Pasadena under Mayor Wagner’s leadership.

If the current cadet class graduated today, we would have a total of 306 officers for the great City of Pasadena – a number Mayor Wagner has worked tirelessly and consistently on achieving since day one. Not only does Mayor Wagner make public safety a priority, but his actions show it’s one of his absolute highest priorities. His vision of having the best Training Campus in the state and beyond turned into a reality during his two terms. Mayor Wagner also accounted for the future growth and expansion of our Department with a new Police Annex Building ready for use in the coming months. This accomplishment emphasizes his unwavering commitment to a safer Pasadena, and as a result, crime has consistently decreased during Mayor Wagner’s administration.

I would also like to thank Mayor Wagner for taking great care of the men and women who protect and serve. Mayor and Council have continued to improve upon employee benefits and employee wellness. This includes Education Pay for officers, Spanish Compensation Pay, Public Service Officer (PSO) Certification Pay, Field Training Officer (FTO) Pay, comprehensive cardiac screening evaluation with individualized nutrition and exercise coaching, and our Cordico wellness app. These programs and support from the Mayor and City Council are just a few examples of how the Mayor has consistently made Public Safety one of his highest priorities.

Thank you, Mayor Wagner!

A silly twist at PPD, a self-proclaimed “subject matter expert” on stolen drones discovered that selling hot merchandise isn’t exactly a career move for success.

THE CASE OF THE “SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT” AND THE MYSTERIOUS DRONE SALE
This one’s too good not to share!🔥

During a DroneSense 2025 Sales Kickoff in Austin, a Mavic 3T drone worth $6,700 was stolen out of the victim’s truck. The victim is the product management manager at DroneSense, a company that develops drone software for public safety, law enforcement, and emergency response.

A few days later, a friend of DroneSense spotted a Facebook Marketplace listing for a Mavic 3T. At first glance, it looked like a regular drone sale, but he soon realized it was likely the stolen drone, due to a few key details that stood out:

• The drone case had a DroneSense sticker.
• In a video, the seller held up a distinctive challenge coin that had been given for participation in last year’s Texas DPS SAR X.

The listing pointed to Pasadena, TX, so he contacted Andrew Aleman (Deputy of Emergency Management), a friend and DroneSense customer, employed by the Pasadena Police Department. Andrew quickly made contact with the Pasadena Auto Crimes Unit, which lead to the eventual felony arrest of two individuals, for theft of property over $2,500 and evading arrest.

THE SUSPECT’S VERSION OF EVENTS
So, our suspect had quite the story. When caught, he explained that his “cousin stole” (yes, stole) the drone and then gave him a call—because, you know, he was the “subject matter expert” when it came to selling stolen goods, with a certification on Drones sales. That makes sense, right?

Wanting to flex his expertise, our suspect decided to list the drone on Facebook Marketplace, complete with a detailed description of its features. And by detailed, we mean something like:
” We got the remote… The battery… This… This… Some other stuff on here… Charger… Charger… Some Some… Umhmm … We got the chargers…(Mumbles)… Chargers for the battery… (Mumbles)… There something else in it”
Indeed, an expert-level sales pitch.

A good, law-abiding citizen bought the drone for $2,000, despite the suspect’s less-than-stellar product description. But, our suspect wasn’t done yet! Oh no—there’s more!

The suspect used the same video to sell the drone again—except he no longer had it.
Undeterred, he found another interested buyer (we are not going to say who, but it starts with Pasadena and ends with Department.) He was asked why he was still selling an item he no longer had in his possession. Was he trying to commit robbery?

The suspect responded:

“Not rob… I was just trying to finesse some more money out of it.”

Ah, yes, because “finesse” is clearly a much more legal business strategy.

Unfortunately for our self-proclaimed expert, law enforcement wasn’t too impressed with his entrepreneurial skills. Thanks to some solid detective work, Pasadena PD swooped in, made the arrest, and recovered the stolen drone—making this a win for the rightful owner and a perfect example of why some people should stick to their day jobs.

Shoutout to Andrew Aleman with Pasadena Emergency Management for quickly connecting the dots and getting the right team involved!

Great work by the Pasadena Police Department Auto Crime Unit for seeing it through and closing this one! 🚔👏

Looks like this 🤡 took the concept of a “DIY project” too far at Home Depot and Precinct 8 was having none of it.

Earlier today, Deputies with Harris County Precinct 8 Constable Phil Sandlin’s Office arrested a 44-year-old male for Criminal Trespass and Retaliation following an incident at The Home Depot located at 18251 Gulf Freeway.

At approximately 2:00 PM, Deputies Cartlidge and Crider were dispatched to the location in response to a report of a suspicious male urinating on rental trucks in the parking lot. The individual was also reported to have refused to vacate the premises after being asked by management.

Upon arrival, deputies located and detained the suspect, later identified as Heath Niemi. After reviewing the facts of the case, the Harris County District Attorney’s office accepted the charge of Criminal Trespass against Niemi.

While in custody and prior to transport to the Joint Processing Center, Niemi made a direct threat to kill one of the Deputies. In light of the threat, the DA’s office was contacted again, and Retaliation charges were added to Niemi’s case. No bonds have been set in these cases as of yet.

Stephanie the 🤡’s eventful night ended with a strange mix of Italian cuisine, Precinct 8 intervention, and a terrible attempt at giving false information.

On Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at approximately 7:44 P.M., Harris County Precinct 8 Constable’s Office dispatchers received a call regarding a welfare check on a female causing a disturbance at Pomodoro’s Italian Restaurant, located in the 1000 block of Pineloch Blvd.

According to reports, a woman appearing highly intoxicated had created a disturbance inside the restaurant before leaving on foot. The same woman was later observed walking in the roadway, creating a potential danger to herself and motorists, before returning to the restaurant.

Deputy O. Cartlidge responded to the scene and made contact with the female subject. During the investigation, it was determined the woman had failed to pay her tab, and restaurant management requested she be issued a Criminal Trespass Warning.

When asked to provide her identification, the woman repeatedly refused and ultimately provided multiple misspellings of her name and a fictitious birthday. Utilizing a Mobile AFIS (Automated Fingerprint Identification System) scanner, Deputy Cartlidge positively identified the subject as Stephanie Gauthreaux, a 43-year-old white female from Friendswood, Texas.

Further investigation revealed Gauthreaux had multiple active warrants from Harris County, Collin County, and the Friendswood Police Department. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and accepted charges for Failure to Identify – Fugitive from Justice.

Gauthreaux was taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Harris County Joint Processing Center.

Last week, PPD’s Citizen’s Police Academy kicked off with an exciting history lesson from Sgt. James Anderson, captivating cadets with the history of Pasadena’s high-profile serial killer cases.

Last week marked the start of our first Citizen’s Police Academy of the 2025 calendar year. Like all cadets who pass through any form of our academy, the newest participants received a short lecture about the rules and expectations for the duration of their experience. Citizen cadets were then provided an introduction from our Community Engagement Division, whose members are those responsible for planning and executing this truly immersive event.

Pulling out all the stops for the first guest lecturer, the longest standing officer in the department, as well as the most prolific storyteller, Sgt. James Anderson, came to share a glimpse into the history of our department. CPA members were treated to a thrilling recount of some of the most high-profile serial killer cases to pass through the Pasadena Police Department. Several volunteers even received the opportunity to hold a piece of that history, in the form of an item salvaged from one of those historic crime scenes.

This is just the tip of the iceberg for these citizen cadets! Check back later, as we follow their experience over the next few months, and maybe you will be inspired to step into our shoes and get a glimpse behind the curtain of this fulfilling career!

🤡 tries to flee Precinct 8 deputies on the ferry after ramming vehicles, ended up arrested, felon with a loaded gun and crack cocaine. 🤡’s at the 248th Harris County District Court let him go this morning dismissing the charges.

PUBLIC RELEASE: Man Rams Citizen’s Vehicles and Patrol Cars at the Lynchburg Ferry Yesterday Before Attempting to Flee Deputies

On March 1, 2025, at approximately 12:05 p.m., the Harris County Precinct 8 Constable’s Office responded to a call regarding an aggressive driver near the Lynchburg Ferry located at 4406 Independence Parkway. The caller alleged the suspect vehicle was ramming other vehicles to force his way onto the ferry.

Upon arrival, deputies were directed by the ferry captain to a maroon Ford Expedition. Deputies attempted to contact the driver, who was later identified as Dana Allen Williams, a 50-year-old black male from Houston, who refused verbal commands and attempted to evade deputies by maneuvering his vehicle toward the ferry boat.

As deputies worked to contain the vehicle, Williams reversed into a marked patrol unit and subsequently drove over deployed stop sticks, boarding the ferry despite repeated commands to stop. Williams then reversed off the ferry, narrowly avoiding deputies and patrol vehicles, and continued southbound on Independence Parkway with multiple flat tires.

Deputies initiated a short pursuit, and Williams’ vehicle became disabled by extensive tire damage. The pursuit concluded in the 3500 block of Independence Parkway when Williams’ vehicle came to a stop. Despite numerous commands to surrender, Williams remained noncompliant, revving the vehicle’s engine in an effort to flee, spinning his wheels and causing damage to the roadway.

Deputies were forced to breach the vehicle after Williams continued to refuse to exit. Following the deployment of a Taser, Williams was removed from the vehicle and was safely taken into custody. La Porte EMS provided medical evaluation on scene before Williams was transported to HCA Pasadena Hospital for further treatment.

A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of a loaded Taurus G2S 9mm handgun from the center console, along with a small plastic bag containing crack cocaine.

After consultation with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, the following charges were accepted against Dana Williams: Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. He was booked into the Harris County Jail on these charges.

For unknown reasons, the charges filed on Williams were dismissed by the 248th Harris County District Court early this morning citing “No Probable Cause”.

Family Night at PPD’s police academy unites loved ones with cadets, transforming intense training struggles into encouragement and a stronger bond.

Family Night 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

The police academy is an intense and demanding experience that requires physical, mental, and emotional endurance. Cadets endure long hours of training, challenging coursework, and high-pressure scenarios designed to prepare them for the realities of law enforcement. Family support plays a crucial role, providing emotional stability, encouragement, and understanding. This support helps cadets manage stress, stay motivated, and maintain focus, ensuring they can complete the academy and successfully transition into their roles as officers. The strength of this family support is vital to helping cadets navigate the demands of training.

The Pasadena Police Department strongly advocates for this support. During each ongoing academy, the training staff hosts a family night to address any questions or concerns. They provide detailed information about the process and the journey ahead, encouraging families to offer their cadets the emotional and mental backing they need to, not only graduate academically, but to succeed mentally and emotionally, as well.

On behalf of the academy staff, we would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the families who showed up and supported the cadets enrolled in our current academy. Your presence, encouragement, and commitment play a vital role in their success, and we truly appreciate the strength and dedication you bring to this journey.

Goodluck to the 20 officers in attendance for this morning’s Sergeant Promotional Exam!

These individuals have dedicated a large portion of their personal time to preparing for this potential next chapter in their careers. This effort and sacrifice, made by the officers and often their families, is the first step towards demonstrating the attributes necessary in a leader.

Last month, the American Legion 521 served a brunch for first responders, reminding everyone of the power of community support.

Last month, in honor of Martin Luther King Day, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 521 graciously provided brunch for local first responders. Ever the good host, representatives accommodated the often busy and unpredictable schedules of police and fire, providing a warm meal with a place to sit and visit or a to-go container, packed for those on-duty. With a breakfast spread that rivaled a Thanksgiving feast, the effort and consideration put into this gesture reminded everyone in attendance that we truly serve a community that bolsters its first responders.

Thank you again for the meal and the camaraderie; our department is endlessly grateful for your support!

After weeks of cunning capers, the city’s copper criminals met their match in a game of cat and mouse with PPD.

‼️Copper Case Closed‼️

Last year, the Burglary and Theft Unit successfully dismantled a copper theft operation, thanks to the coordinated efforts of the entire division. For weeks, a group of suspects had been stripping copper wire from telephone poles across the city, targeting the highest points of the poles, in the early morning hours. Their actions, which endangered both themselves and the public, resulted in the theft of thousands of dollars in copper wire.

Through careful investigation, led by Detective T. Walker, the team identified the suspects’ methods and vehicle, by implementing a strategic surveillance operation.

In their last criminal act , which ultimately resulted in their arrest, the suspects attempted to steal approximately $4,300 worth of copper. The Burglary and Theft Unit, in close collaboration with Night Shift Patrol, successfully intercepted the suspect vehicle at Red Bluff and Bearle. Several items of stolen property were recovered, as well as the criminal tools that evidenced their crimes. The suspects were arrested, charged with felony theft, and found to have multiple outstanding felony warrants.

This case highlights the power of teamwork and collaboration within the Burglary and Theft Unit, with Detective Walker’s leadership playing a crucial role in putting an end to this criminal operation.

Another success story for the Burglary and Theft Division—maybe it’s time to start calling them the Burglary and Theft Task Force instead!

Pasadena’s pride soared to new heights when PPD Sgt. Hays’ badge orbited Earth, reminding us that legacy knows no bounds.

🚀 A Piece of Pasadena in Space! 🌌

Just a little over a year ago, something incredible became part of Pasadena’s history—one for the trivia books! The late Sgt. Walter E. Hays’ badge flew into space on the historic Axiom Mission 3 (Ax-3).

On January 18, 2024, Sgt. Hays’ badge traveled aboard the SpaceX Dragon Freedom from Kennedy Space Center. The crew—Commander Michael López-Alegría, Pilot Walter Villadei, and Mission Specialists Alper Gezeravcr and Marcus Wandt—spent 22 days in space, orbiting Earth 346 times at speeds over 17,000 mph.

They traveled 9.1 million miles before splashing down on February 9, 2024. 🌍

This achievement is a proud moment for Sgt. Hays’ legacy and a reminder of how far Pasadena’s impact can reach. Now, our community’s dedication is literally in orbit!

Certificate of Authenticity: Sgt. Hays’ badge was with the crew every step of the way, a symbol of Pasadena’s pride and service.

You can run but you can’t hide. Precinct 8 locked up the elusive 🤡 Tommie for a myriad of broken laws.

Yesterday, Precinct 8 Deputies received a tip about a suspicious male inside of a business located in the 400 block of El Dorado Blvd. The caller believed the suspect was selling narcotics at this location. Deputies Rabago and Cartlidge arrived and made contact with a male who matched the description given. The male provided a false name and date of birth before successfully fleeing on foot into a neighboring apartment complex. It was learned the male left a bag behind that was found to contain approximately 3 ounces of marijuana.

The suspect was positively identified by another Deputy who was familiar with the subject from previous incidents. He was identified as 17 year old Tommie Collins. It was learned Collins had two outstanding warrants for Evading Arrest and Assaulting a Family Member. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and accepted an additional charge of Evading Arrest for this latest incident. Charges for Possession of Marijuana and Fail to ID/Fugitive were declined by the DA’s Office for unknown reasons.

Earlier today, Deputies from the Precinct 8 Criminal Investigations Division and our Street Crimes Unit conducted surveillance and located Collins in the 18800 block of Town Ridge Dr. in Webster. Upon making contact with the defendant, he attempted to evade from the scene again. A perimeter was established and the defendant was located hiding inside an apartment. He surrendered without further incident and was booked into the Harris County Joint Processing Center this afternoon. An additional charge of Evading Arrest is being filed for today’s incident.

Evading Arrest X2 (to be determined)

PPD Officer Larry Aubin’s remarkable journey from EMT to D.A.R.E. officer showcased a life dedicated to mentoring and uplifting the Pasadena community.

Remembering a Legend: Officer Larry Aubin

With heavy hearts, we honor the life and legacy of Officer Larry Aubin, a dedicated public servant whose contributions to the Pasadena Police Department and our community will never be forgotten.

Mr. Aubin was a proud graduate of Rayburn High School in Pasadena in the late 1960s. He continued his education at the University of Houston and earned a degree in Kinesiology before pursuing his calling in law enforcement.

In 1973, he graduated from the 24th class of the Pasadena Police Academy and began his distinguished career with the Pasadena Police Department. In those early years, officers took on many roles beyond traditional law enforcement. He worked as an Emergency Medical Technician in the ambulance division and served as a dispatcher—positions that, at the time, were handled solely by police officers, as there were no civilian personnel in those units.

Throughout his career, he played a vital role as a Field Training Officer by training and mentoring others. In 1982, he worked in the Crime Scene Division before transitioning to the Juvenile Division. While assigned to the Juvenile Division, he became a D.A.R.E. Officer, teaching and guiding Pasadena’s youth. This program was later moved under the Community Services Division, where Aubin continued his mission of mentorship and outreach.

After 31 years of dedicated service, Officer Aubin retired in 2004, leaving a lasting impact on his fellow officers and the community he faithfully served.
Though he may no longer be with us, his legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched.

Today, we remember Officer Larry Aubin—not just as an officer but as a mentor, a protector, and a true pillar of this community.

Thank you for your service, Officer Aubin. Rest in peace.

As the new year rang in, Pasadena Police stood vigilantly, turning celebratory chaos into safety by tackling illegal gunfire with impressive resolve.

Now that the new year is well underway, we want to highlight the efforts of our Pasadena Police patrol officers in keeping our community safe during New Year’s Eve celebrations.

While many were ringing in the new year, our officers responded to numerous calls about illegal celebratory gunfire throughout the city. Their proactive efforts led to multiple arrests and the seizure of several firearms from individuals who chose to celebrate dangerously by discharging weapons.

At an apartment complex, officers arrested multiple individuals after reports of gunfire. In another incident, officers recovered handguns, shotguns, and rifles from individuals illegally discharging weapons. Most concerning, a stray bullet penetrated a window at a local church during their midnight service.

We recognize and appreciate the dedication of our patrol officers in addressing this serious safety issue. Their enforcement efforts play a crucial role in protecting our community from the dangers of celebratory gunfire. Remember—what goes up must come down, and bullets fired into the air can cause serious injury or even death.

The Pasadena Police Department remains committed to taking enforcement action against illegal firearm discharge to keep our community safe.

If you have any information about such incidents, please contact the Pasadena Police Department at 713-477-1221.

On February 5, 2024, Harris County Precinct Two Deputies were informed of a homeless encampment located near the 9700 block of Minnesota Street. Responding deputies conducted a welfare check and located individuals living in deplorable living conditions. Our deputies first priority was to assist those displaced and offered everyone help with resources to begin a process into transitional housing. In the course of identifying those on site, deputies learned one adult female had an outstanding warrant for prostitution out of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. The adult female was subsequently arrested and transported to the Harris County Jail. Others on site chose to leave voluntarily without accepting assistance.

At PPD Lieutenant Granados’s promotion party, everyone was proud and happy to celebrate with his family and crew.

“Great leadership usually starts with a willing heart, a positive attitude, and a desire to make a difference.”
— Mac Anderson

On Monday, February 3, 2025, we proudly witnessed a momentous occasion as Raul Granados was promoted from Sergeant to Lieutenant at the Pasadena Police Department.

Lieutenant Granados’s unwavering dedication to service and his community was evident in every step of his career. His promotion ceremony was a true celebration of his commitment, drawing a full house of officers from all shifts and divisions, along with our dedicated civilian personnel. The event was made even more special with community leaders in attendance, including Mayor Wagner and several council members, all gathering to honor this significant milestone.

Chief Wright had the privilege of delivering the promotion ceremony speech, highlighting Lieutenant Granados’s hard work, leadership, and the lasting impact he has had on his fellow officers and the department as a whole. The Chief spoke with pride, recognizing not only Granados’s professional accomplishments but also the personal qualities that make him a respected and admired leader.

The celebration was not complete without the presence of his most ardent supporters—his loving wife, Susi Granados; daughter Jasmine; son Raul II Granados; and many family members and friends. A touching highlight of the evening was when his daughter, Jasmine, had the honor of pinning his Lieutenant badge on him—a gesture that encapsulated the pride and love of his family.

In his heartfelt remarks, Lieutenant Granados began by thanking God for this blessing in his life. He expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming support from everyone present and paid special tribute to his family, notably thanking his mother with a heartfelt “Gracias, Mama” for the love and guidance that helped shape him into the leader he is today.

On behalf of the Pasadena Police Department and our entire community, we share in the joy and pride of this well-deserved promotion. Lieutenant Granados, your leadership, integrity, and dedication continue to inspire us all. We are excited for the positive changes you will bring to the department and are especially looking forward to welcoming you back with open arms on the NIGHT SHIFT.😁

Congratulations, Lieutenant Granados! Your journey of service and leadership has just reached a new pinnacle, and we are all honored to be a part of your continued story.

Precinct 2 deputies responded to a family disturbance, leading to the arrest of an irate husband threatening to pour ACID.

On Sunday, February 02, 2025, the dedicated Day shift Deputies were dispatched to the 12039 block of Back Bay Ridge Way for a family disturbance call for service between a husband and wife regarding child custody. The Complainant was found credible and reliable, and she was living with her sister and brother-in-law to remain in a safe environment with her 7-year-old son from the Defendant. The Complainant stated the Defendant came to her brother-in-law’s residence unannounced and entered the home attempting to take her child. The Defendant was irate and was instructed to leave by the homeowner (brother-in-law). The Complainant stated that the Defendant has been aggressive and controlling for 4 years. The Defendant has assaulted her repeatedly and repeatedly threatened to kill her. At one point, Defendant threatened the Complainant to pour “ACID” on her body, and due to his medical profession, he was able to obtain it, but Defendant was unable to locate the “ACID,” so Defendant poured alcohol all over her body.

Due to exigent circumstances of the Defendant committing the offense of an intent to threaten, in a manner reasonably likely to alarm the person receiving the threat, to inflict bodily injury on the person to commit a felony against the person, a member the Defendant’s family or household, Deputies contacted the Harris County Attorney’s Office, and a charge for Harassment was accepted. A protective order was also requested for the Complainant due to the circumstances. The Defendant was placed into custody and taken to the Harris County Joint Processing Center, where he was released to the Harris County jail staff in good health with no further incident.

A dummy 🤡 driver ignored commands, attempted to flee, and ultimately learned that resisting Precinct 2 deputies doesn’t end well.

During a routine traffic stop conducted by a night shift deputy, the driver exhibited hesitation when asked to provide identification. The deputy utilized a mobile Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) to verify the driver’s identity. Upon identification, it was discovered that the driver had an active warrant for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI). Suspecting the driver was currently under the influence, the deputy requested that the driver perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs), to which the driver consented.
When deputies attempted to open the vehicle door to facilitate the driver’s exit, he refused to comply. The driver then started the vehicle, prompting the deputies to believe he might attempt to flee the scene. Deputies ordered the driver to exit the vehicle, warning that he would be tased if he did not comply. The driver continued to resist and refused to obey commands, at which point he was tased twice in order to gain compliance.
After the deployment of the taser, the driver was detained without further incident. He was subsequently transported to the Harris County Jail and booked without incident for the DWI warrant and for interference charges.

PPD stats transforms dedication into results for a safer and thriving environment for all.

Our dedicated Police Officers and Support staff work hard every day to fight crime and serve the community. This includes a 9% reduction in overall crime over the past six years, with a notable 12% drop in non-violent crime and 6% drop in violent crime in the past year alone. Lower violent and non-violent crime rates reflect the Department’s commitment to a safer Pasadena. I want to thank Mayor Jeff Wagner for steadfastly supporting the Department and always keeping Public Safety among his highest priorities. I also want to thank our Council members for their support. And thank you, Pasadena! It takes an entire village to keep a community safe, and strong partnerships built over many decades have made a real difference. However, none of it would have been possible without the dedicated men and women of the Department protecting and serving our community each day. If our current police academy class of 21 cadets graduated today, our total number of police officers would be well over 300 – a number Mayor Wagner has advocated for since the day he took office. Thank you, Mayor and Council, and thank you to our amazing Pasadena Police Department staff.

A toast to Police Service Officer Jessica, whose unwavering dedication over 25 years have left a remarkable legacy in our community.

Join us in congratulating and celebrating the incredible career of Police Service Officer (PSO) Jessica Barboza, who retired after 25 years of dedicated service to our department and community as a dispatcher and jailer.

Jessica joined the department on December 13, 1999, and throughout her career, she was a strong presence, handling high-pressure situations with professionalism, leadership, and dedication to helping others.

Her colleagues and dear friends described her as one of the kindest and most generous people they knew—someone who would drop everything to help when needed. During the pandemic, she stepped up in a way that left a lasting impression, caring for those around her and leading by example.

Officer Robles, who started as a PSO herself, recalled her first shift in Dispatch when Jessica handled a pursuit with precision and calmness, setting the standard for being a true professional. Crime Analyst Paula shared a story of working with Jessica during an overwhelming night in the jail. This experience showcased Jessica’s ability to command a situation, maintain order, and ensure safety through sheer presence and expertise.

Jessica was the calm voice on the radio during emergencies, from hurricanes and floods to major pursuits and critical incidents. Her ability to navigate these moments gracefully and skillfully earned her numerous commendations from citizens, officers, and leadership. One grateful citizen wrote a sincere letter thanking Jessica for staying on the line and keeping her calm during a terrifying moment—just one of many lives she touched throughout her career.

She was esteemed and loved by many, and her impact extended beyond those currently serving at the Pasadena Police Department. Pasadena City Marshal Catalina Cardenas and several former employees, including Crystal Orozco, Marcy Walls, Monica Puente, and Daisy Rejmaniak, joined many others at her retirement ceremony, reflecting the deep connections she built.

Her legacy is one of professionalism, compassion, and strength. She left behind big shoes to fill, setting the bar high for those who follow in her footsteps. Another experienced dispatcher departed, leaving a legacy of excellence and expecting those remaining to uphold the same high standards she set.
Jessica, thank you for your years of service, dedication to the Pasadena Police Department, and the countless lives you have impacted. We wish you the very best in this new chapter of your life. Enjoy your well-earned retirement!

– Don’t give out your personal information to just anyone.
– Avoid carrying your social security card.
– Shred your documents.
– Ignore threatening calls and texts from criminals posing as IRS or Law Enforcement.
– Be aware of phishing emails and texts. Don’t click on the link when you get a notification for you to log in to verify your information. Verify that information separately by looking up the contact information yourself.

Failing to yield the right of way, Precinct 2 deputies uncovered a stolen car, smelled weed and arrested all three.

On Saturday January 25, 2025 Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for failing to yield the right of way to an emergency vehicle and for having a Texas license plate displayed that was canceled.

Deputies made contact with the driver of the vehicle who was identified as 42 year old Green, Kennis Wayne (left). Deputies observed an odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle and subsequently detained the driver and the two other occupants.

Deputies were able to compare the vehicle identification number connected to the license plate return and the vehicle identification number attached to the vehicle, which did not match. Deputies entered the vehicle identification number into the National crime information center (NCIC) which confirmed the vehicle to be stolen out of the Houston Police Department.

Kennis told deputies he rented the vehicle from a “dope fiend” for an undisclosed amount for a few days. Kennis was ultimately charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

One passenger was identified as 39 Perez, Gerardo (middle). Gerardo initially provided his younger brother’s name but deputies utilized the department issued mobile identification fingerprint system (AFIS) to positively identify him, which Gerardo had an open warrant for DWI in Colorado.

Another passenger was identified as 47 year old Smith, Yakeyma (right). Yakeyma was found to be in possession of numerous amounts of passports, driver’s licenses, and US citizenship cards. Yakeyma was arrested for fraudulent possession of identification documents.

All three were charged and transported to Harris County jail without incident.

Please stay safe, pull over and God bless.

Protect your tribe from IRS scammers by educating them on common tactics outlined by Precinct 8.

Every tax season, we receive reports of scammers attempting to impersonate IRS employees. Our elderly community members are typically the most vulnerable to these types of scams. Please take the time to warn your older family members, neighbors, and friends.

It’s important to remember the IRS will not:

– Call you to demand immediate payment. The IRS will not call you if you owe taxes without first sending you a bill in the mail.
– Demand that you pay taxes and not allow you to question or appeal the amount you owe.
– Require that you pay your taxes a certain way. For instance, require that you pay with a prepaid debit card.
– Ask for your credit or debit card numbers over the phone.
– Threaten to bring in police or other agencies to arrest you for not paying.

Best advice when you or someone you know receives a suspicious call claiming to be the IRS is to HANG UP.

Precinct 2 Deputies caught a shoplifting 🤡 who turned out to be a wanted identity thief.

Today, deputies from Harris County Constable Precinct 2 were dispatched to the 1800 block of West Bay Area Blvd in response to reports of an active theft/shoplifting incident. Deputies acted swiftly, arriving on the scene and successfully detaining the female suspect.

On Uniform Inspection Day, PPD cadets discover that discipline is as essential as shiny shoes and pressed uniforms in achieving excellence.

Does Your Uniform Represent Service and Commitment?

Uniform Inspection Day: Building Excellence Through Discipline

On Uniform Inspection Days, every detail matters. Officer Gonzalez, known for his sharp eye and high standards, challenges cadets to achieve perfection and allows no room for error —gig lines straight, shoes shining like mirrors, and uniforms absolutely spotless.

On this inspection day, some cadets’ uniforms were less than perfect, and these mistakes were met with immediate discipline: push-ups, squats, and jumping jacks—all performed in the biting 40-degree weather. While some cadets found the exercises challenging, others appreciated the extra warmth they brought in the cold morning air.

It wasn’t just about uniforms but about attention to detail, discipline, and pride in preparation. These cadets know that excellence starts with the little things—on and off the field.

Your uniform is the first impression our community has of you. Make it count!

During this process, deputies discovered that Mr. Reyes was wanted by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office on an active warrant for “Failure to Identify as a Fugitive.”

A vigilant homeowner’s quick call led Precinct 2 Deputies to snag a suspected drunk driving 🤡.

On January 22, 2025, deputies responded to a burglary call where a homeowner reported that a male suspect had attempted to enter her residence. The suspect left the scene in a work van after apparently mistaking the homeowner’s property for his own.

Thanks to the homeowner’s detailed description, deputies quickly located the van just one block away. A male matching the description was identified as Alejandro De Santiago (DOB: 12/23/1983). Upon further investigation, Mr. De Santiago exhibited clear signs of intoxication. When asked to complete Standard Field Sobriety Tests, he refused.

Deputies transported Mr. De Santiago to the Harris County Joint Processing Center, where a blood warrant was obtained and executed. He was subsequently booked into the custody of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office on a charge of Driving While Intoxicated.

We commend our deputies for their prompt response and the homeowner for their vigilance in providing crucial information. This collaboration highlights the importance of community involvement in keeping our neighborhoods safe.

Retired PPD Officer Steve Fowler traded snow shovels for sunshine, graduating with impressive degrees before serving his community with unwavering dedication for over three decades.

Officer Steve Fowler was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, around the turn of the century. Like any wise man tired of shoveling snow, he eventually made his way to Texas, where he graduated from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls with degrees in Criminal Justice and Exercise Physiology.

In 1983, Officer Fowler joined the United States Marine Corps, serving as a Platoon Sergeant assigned to an M-60E3 machine gun. After four years in the Corps, he brought his discipline and leadership to the Pasadena Police Department, joining the 43rd Pasadena Police Academy in June 1991.

Throughout his 33-year career, Officer Fowler served with dedication and professionalism in the Patrol Division Criminal Investigations Division and ended his career working alongside his first trainee in Logistics. He quickly became a respected leader within the department, earning the admiration of his colleagues. His exceptional work ethic and commitment to service were recognized with numerous accolades, including being named the Most Physically Fit Officer of his academy class (yes, he’s been making the rest of us look bad since day one), receiving the 100 Club Officer of the Year award, and being honored as Officer of the Month five times (probably because six might have seemed excessive). He also earned two Chief’s Citations, a Distinguished Service Award, three Unit Citations, and served as a Field Training Officer for 20 years.

As he enters retirement, Officer Fowler looks forward to spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren and sharing his love for baseball by coaching through his church. Though he’s stepping away from active duty, his legacy of service and mentorship will continue to inspire those who worked alongside him.

Two decades of dedicated service later, Pasadena’s 57th Academy Class continues to inspire as they honor their fallen comrades.

On January 10, 2025, the Pasadena Police Department proudly recognized the 20-year anniversary of the 57th Pasadena Police Academy Class. This anniversary marks a significant chapter in the lives of those who began their journey two decades ago, pledging to serve and protect their community. Today, we honor the incredible accomplishments of four members of this academy class who continue to serve, staying true to the oath they swore on that winter day, January 10, 2005.

Sergeant Chris Wilkerson, Detective Donna Wright, Officer Scott Cude, and Officer Mark Adams have exemplified the highest standards of law enforcement. Over the past 20 years, they have made lasting contributions to the department and their community. We are truly grateful for their service, sacrifice, and dedication.

As we celebrate this joyous occasion, we also pause to remember the tremendous losses from the 57th Academy Class. Detective Pete Mejia, Officer Jesse Hamilton, and Officer Roy Norman are no longer with us— two who tragically lost their lives in the line of duty, and one who passed away due to health challenges—are deeply missed. Their absence leaves a void, but their legacy remains in the hearts of those who served beside them. More than just colleagues, they were family.

Despite the hardships and heartbreaks, the 57th Academy Class has remained strong, honoring the memories of those they’ve lost and upholding the values that bind this department together. Their dedication and hard work remind us of the power found in purpose and community.

Together, we celebrate their service and honor the sacrifice of those who gave all.

Please take a moment to reflect on Sergeant Chris Wilkerson, Detective Donna Wright, Officer Scott Cude, and Officer Mark Adams and their extraordinary journey and their individual achievements over the past two decades.

To Class 57, here’s to 20 more years—hear, hear! Let’s keep serving with honor and excellence, and maybe a little less paperwork!

DPPD warning, scammers want you to buy gift cards. Here’s how to spot and avoid gift card scams.

Of course it is! Today is National Use Your Gift Card Day so by all means let’s go shopping!

But, lets get real. ONLY SCAMMERS TELL YOU TO BUY A GIFT CARD TO PAY THEM. Let us say it louder for those in the back. ONLY SCAMMERS TELL YOU TO BUY A GIFT CARD TO PAY THEM.

Below is information from our friends at Federal Trade Commission

Did someone tell you to buy a gift card to pay a fine or bill? Stop. It’s a scam. No real business or government agency will ever tell you to buy a gift card to pay them. Here’s how to spot and avoid gift card scams.

Gift card scams start with a call, text, email, or social media message. The person contacting you is, they say, from the government or a company you know. (They’re not.) They say to pay right away or something terrible will happen. (It won’t.)

Scammers rush you because they don’t want you to have time to think about what they say or talk to someone you trust. The scammer will tell you which gift cards to buy and where to buy them. Sometimes, they’ll stay on the phone with you while you go to the store and load money onto the card. They want you to think they’re helping you. (They’re not.) Once you add money to the card and give scammers the gift card number, your money is gone. If you get a call like this, hang up the phone.

If you bought a gift card and gave someone the numbers off the back of the card:

Report the gift card scam to the gift card company right away. No matter how long ago the scam happened, report it. Use the How To Contact Gift Card Companies list to report it. It helps to have the gift card and store receipt handy, if possible.
Ask for your money back. Some companies are helping stop gift card scams and might give your money back. It’s worth asking.
Tell the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov. Your report makes a difference and helps protect your community from fraud and scams.
