PPD: Beware of smishing scams that trick you with fake toll notices.

🚩SMISHING SCAM ALERT🚩

“Smishing” is on the rise. This tactic is a combination of “SMS” (short message service) and “phishing” .

Recently, scammers are sending text messages telling people they have unpaid tolls. Clicking on the link in the text message brings users to fake websites designed to steal users’ personal data, including credit card, bank, or Social Security information.

Keep your information safe:

❗️Don’t click on any links or respond to any texts that are from an unknown number.

❗️Report and delete spam text messages.

❗️Check to see if the text is legitimate by using a phone number or website you know is real.
