PPD empowering women in blue. How one Chief’s vision is changing the face of law enforcement.

Chief Jimmy Perdue, of the North Richland Hills (TX) Police Department, came up with the idea of empowering women in the field of policing through an annual conference. He wanted to provide them with a strong network of leaders that could build up others, mentor, and train females in the many aspects of law enforcement. He took this idea to then Lieutenant Carrie White to bring this vision to life, and in 2014, the first Women of Law Enforcement was held.

Every year, several female Pasadena Police Department Officers have the opportunity to attend the Women of Law Enforcement Conference in Ft. Worth. Night Shift Patrol Sgt. J. Neilon attends each year and this year brought with her Officers K. Haesly, S. Childs, J. Hernandez, and B. Martinez.

“AS WOMEN OF LAW ENFORCEMENT, WE RESPECT THOSE THAT HAVE PAVED THE WAY BEFORE US, AND WE INSPIRE THOSE THAT WILL FOLLOW US. WE BUILD STRENGTH NOT ONLY IN OURSELVES BUT THOSE WE SURROUND. TOGETHER, WE EMPOWER CONFIDENT, RESILIENT WOMEN OF LAW ENFORCEMENT.”
