🚗 Texas DWI Laws: What You Need to Know
•Driving drunk is illegal in Texas if your BAC (Blood Alcohol Content) is .08 or higher—or if alcohol or
drugs impair your ability to drive.
•Open alcohol containers in your car = Up to $500 fine
Penalties for a First DWI:
•Up to $2,000 fine
•3 days to 6 months in jail
•License suspension for up to 1 year
🚸 Driving Drunk with a Child Passenger:
•Fines up to $10,000
•Up to 2 years in jail
•License suspension for 6 more months
🆕 New Law (HB 393): Drunk drivers who kill a parent must pay child support until the kids turn 18.
