On August 13, 2025, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Deputies Cartlidge and Gibson responded to a report of a Burglary of a Habitation at the 10900 block of the Gulf Freeway. Upon arrival, deputies discovered that an unidentified female had unlawfully entered a resident’s unit, defecated in the bathroom, and stolen a t-shirt. Despite an initial search of the area, the suspect could not be located.
At approximately 4:00 p.m., deputies were dispatched back to the same complex after receiving a second report of individuals matching the earlier suspect description possibly occupying another unit within the premises Deputies Cartlidge and Gibson returned to the scene and observed a female exiting the apartment. She was detained without incident and identified as Meagan Vargas, 32. A male subject, Trennan Dillard, 25, was also located inside the unit and detained. During further investigation, it was discovered that the complainant from the initial incident also reported a stolen Nintendo Switch gaming console. The stolen device was recovered from the unit where Vargas and Dillard were apprehended.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted, and the charge of Burglary of a Habitation was accepted on Vargas, and the charge of Criminal Trespass of a Habitation was accepted on Dillard. Both were placed in custody and transported to the Harris County Joint Processing Center where they were booked without incident.
