This afternoon, Constable Sandlin had the honor of promoting three Precinct 8 Deputies to the newly established rank of Detective during a swearing-in ceremony at our Clear Lake station. Deputy Investigator Andrew Stovich, Deputy Investigator James Wingfield and Deputy Matthew Mitchell all took the oath of office as their family, friends and teammates looked on.
Detectives Stovich and Wingfield are long-time members of our Investigations Division (10 and 5 years respectively), who have both successfully investigated, solved and filed charges in hundreds of criminal cases since being assigned to the division. Their dedicated efforts have brought justice to countless victims of crime throughout Precinct 8 over the years.
Detective Mitchell is assigned to the Harris County Violent Persons task force (VIPER), which consists of members of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office and several Harris County Constable’s Offices. Since its inception in November of 2022, teams assigned to VIPER have successfully apprehended nearly 5,200 criminal fugitives wanted in violent criminal cases throughout Harris County and beyond. Detective Mitchell has been a vital member of the task force since being assigned to that role.
All 3 promotions officially took effect this past Saturday, April 19, 2025. We thank these Detectives for their dedicated service and congratulate them on their well-deserved promotions!
