On March 20, 2025, Deputy Atluri observed a stranded motor vehicle on I-10 near the East Sam Houston Parkway. Upon making contact with the vehicle, Deputy Atluri discovered an adult male asleep in the driver’s seat. The vehicle was in the “Drive” position, and the driver’s foot was observed to be on the brake.
Exercising caution, deputies awakened the driver, who was identified as 27 year old Jose Hernandez. While speaking with Hernandez, Deputy Atluri observed multiple signs of intoxication. Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs) were administered, and it was determined that Hernandez was unable to operate the motor vehicle safely.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and accepted the charge of Driving While Intoxicated. Hernandez was transported to the Harris County Joint Processing Center, where he was booked without incident.
