On September 24, 2024, Precinct 8 Deputy Haroun with Constable Phil Sandlin’s Office observed a gray Chevrolet Impala traveling in the 14900 block of the Gulf Freeway. A check of the license plate revealed an expired registration. Deputy Haroun further observed an obscured license plate and the occupants not wearing seatbelts. Deputy Haroun initiated a traffic stop and identified the driver as 25 year old Carlos Jerome Wade Jr. and the passenger as 20 year old Faison Miguel Scott. While conducting an investigation, Deputy Haroun observed a handgun in plain view. Deputy Haroun detained both occupants and conducted a consent search of the vehicle. Deputies secured the handgun in the center console and located a second handgun under the front passenger seat and 2 grams of marijuana. A further search of the vehicle yielded a backpack containing a black ski mask, a black hoodie and a large amount of U.S. currency. Upon a closer inspection, several $100 bills were found to be counterfeit. Deputy Rabago and his K-9 partner Max arrived to assist in the investigation and positively alerted on the contraband. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and accepted charges for Unlawful Carry of a Weapon and Forgery on Scott. Wade was charged with Unlawful Carry of a Weapon. The Asset Forfeiture division was contacted and accepted the seizure of the U.S. currency. Both subjects were transported to the Harris County Joint Processing Center where Scott’s bonds were set a total of $5,100 and Wade’s bond was set at $100.
