On Wednesday, April 30, 2025, Deputy Shawn Margison of the Harris County Precinct 8 Constable’s Office responded to a report of attempted fraud at 19400 block of Gulf Freeway.
The store’s Loss Prevention personnel reported that a black female matching the description from a recent “Be on the Lookout” (BOLO) alert had entered the store and attempted to purchase two Apple iPhones using a fictitious identification card. This individual had tried a similar transaction at another store location earlier in the day but was turned away after staff identified the ID as fraudulent.
Upon arrival, Deputy Margison observed the suspect seated at the mobile phone counter and was directed to her by store personnel. When questioned, the suspect claimed she was checking an account on behalf of her father and presented an Illinois ID card. However, the store associate confirmed that this was not the ID previously presented during the attempted purchase.
As Deputy Margison attempted to detain the suspect, she became physically non-compliant, resisting verbal commands and attempts to secure her in handcuffs. After verbal warnings and multiple efforts to gain compliance, Deputy Margison successfully deployed his department-issued TASER and was able to detain the suspect without further incident.
The suspect was positively identified as 25-year-old Alexis Jones of Chicago, IL. A search of the Jones’ belongings revealed additional fraudulent documents, including: 1 Texas Driver’s License bearing her photograph with false identifying information and 1 Minnesota Driver’s License also displaying her photograph under a different identity. Both documents were confirmed to be fictitious. Jones was ultimately arrested and transported to the Harris County Jail and charged with Tampering with a Government Record & Interfering with Public Duties.
