Overnight, Precinct Deputy A. Camarillo engaged in a vehicle pursuit that began near the Gulf Fwy. at Clear Lake City and ended in the 18800 block of Egret Bay Blvd. in Webster. The subject failed to yield and evaded throughout Webster and League City. Units from both agencies assisted Precinct 8 in the pursuit, as did HPD’s FOX helicopter. The pursuit concluded when the male, identified as Russell John Einarsson, drove off the roadway, exited his vehicle and jumped into the water. He continued to swim around for approx 20 minutes, ignoring officer’s commands to exit the water. Ultimately, Nassau Bay units used a fisherman’s boat and officers were able to apprehend the man. He was pulled from the water and taken to shore. Einarsson was later transported to a nearby hospital for treatment due to prolonged exposure to cold temperatures while in the water. He has been charged with felony Evading in a Motor Vehicle and Possession of Crack Cocaine
