Serial thief Jason strikes again at Kroger with a wrap sheet bigger than my all time high bowling score, caught red-handed by Precinct 8 and faces charges for habitual theft.

HABITUAL THEFT OFFENDER CHARGED AGAIN

On Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at approximately 2:09 PM, the Harris County Precinct 8 Constable’s Office received a call regarding a theft in progress at the Kroger grocery store located in the 16400 block of El Camino Real. According to the caller, the individual was observed concealing merchandise in his pants before fleeing the store.

Precinct 8 Deputies responded promptly to the area and located a subject matching the description provided. The individual was identified as Jason Terrell Dorsey, a 42-year-old male from the Clear Lake area. Upon further investigation, deputies confirmed Mr. Dorsey’s involvement in the theft and found him to be concealing over $70 in merchandise.

Mr. Dorsey is known to law enforcement and has an extensive history of theft-related offenses in the area. In this case, the Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and declined to accept felony theft charges (despite numerous previous convictions), but did accept a Class B Misdemeanor Theft with Previous Convictions charge. He was transported to the Harris County Jail for booking without further incident. Earlier today, Dorsey was released from custody after a $100 General Order bond was granted.

Since 2001, Jason Dorsey has been arrested 70 times. Out of those 70 arrests, Dorsey has been convicted in 53 of those cases, including 21 convictions for theft. His convictions include:

Criminal Trespass – 5x
Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 1 – 3x
Burglary of a Vehicle – 1x
Criminal Mischief >$50<$500 – 1x
Evading Arrest or Detention – 1x
Evading Arrest/Detention with Previous Conviction – 1x
Possession of Marijuana – 1x
Resisting Arrest – 1x
Theft of Property <$100 with Previous Convictions – 2x
Theft of Property <$1500 with 2 or more Previous Convictions – 4x
Theft of Property <$2500 with 2 or more Previous Convictions – 15x

In addition, Dorsey also has 2 active Class C theft cases filed in Harris County Justice of the Peace 8-2 that are still pending. He also has a Class C conviction for Theft and a Failure to Appear charge out of Harris County Justice of the Peace 8-1.
