Rescue, foster, or give a forever home. These scared shelter dogs are desperate for love and a second chance.

We are good dogs. We would make the bestest friend and would show so much love, loyalty, and companionship. But we are still at the shelter scared. We’re surrounded by unfamiliar faces and strange noises, leaving us to feel alone and sad. The shelter has done its best to care for us, but the aftermath of the tornado has taken its toll. Space is scarce, and our hopes of finding a home dwindles each day. Only one of you can restore our hope by rescuing, fostering, or giving us the forever home, we ache for 💔.

Video: Rescue wanted to create a tranquil home for an anxious mother dog and her puppies.

Meet Mindi A165787 she is a one year German Shepherd Mix. She came to us full term pregnant on 7/7/23, four days later she gave birth to 7 puppies and 1 passed away. The shelter is not a great environment for any dog but especially a mom nursing her babies. We have her in her own room, but this is not enough. The shelter is stressful and loud. Her babies are prone to so many diseases as their immune system is comprised for being so young. Mom is stressing and she has become protective of her little ones.. but what mom wouldn’t? She does amazing when she away from them. She will let us clean her room and feed her, but she does best if we don’t grab her babies while she is with them. The staff is trained and will go and sweet talk to her and put a leash on her to tell her that it is potty break time, she really enjoys her breaks and the one on one she receives from the staff. She loves treats. She does have an upset tummy from all the stress and we have started her on some meds, good quality food and she is adjusting well.
We need your help!! We do not want to lose this family. She is in need of an experienced foster or rescue. She is needing a quiet space in a home where she can relax and take care of her babies. Mom does all the work you just need to provide a clean, quiet environment and some mommy loving.
If you are able to help PLEASE contact us.
Our Foster/ Rescue Coordinator Brisa is ready to get you started with anything you may need. A crate, a bottom of crate like we currently have her, blankets, puppy pads, food anything you may need. The babies will be available for adoption once they turn 6 weeks. So if you can spare a room or an area for 4-5 weeks please contact us.

It’s about time to protect the pooch from firework fright and avoid animal shelter searches.

We will be closed today in observance of the holiday. We ask that before you head out to celebrate, please make sure to bring your pets inside. Fireworks are very scary for animals, and they will try to escape from them! If you don’t want to spend the 5th of July at shelters looking for your cat or dog, or worse, finding out they had been hit by a car trying to escape the noise, setting them up inside your home will ensure that they cannot leave your yard.

If your dog or cat does escape your yard, we will reopen on Wednesday at 9am (11am for adoptions). Post on NextDoor, Facebook, Pawboost, etc. as soon as you notice they’re missing, and then come to the shelter to see if they made it here. Every shelter is full, so we want to make sure they get home as soon as possible!

Help the Animal Shelter find homes for refugees because they recently went into critically full mode.

WE ARE CRITICALLY FULL!

In the past 6 days we have taken in 30 dogs and 78 cats. That means, we have no open kennels and, therefore, WE NEED YOUR HELP! We are still operating out of only the adoption center as our shelter was damaged by the tornado.

We will not be taking in owned animals. If you need to rehome your pet, please check with friends and family first. They or someone they know may be interested in taking in your pet. Check with other area humane societies or rescues.
If you have an animal here, please come pick him or her up! We are waiving impoundment fees because we just want them to go home where they belong. If you are missing a pet, you can go to https://24petconnect.com/PASD and see who all we have. If you think a listed animal is yours, please come to the shelter with proof of ownership (vaccination records, pictures, etc.). We would love to reunite you!

Say hello to Boomer, the sweet dog who needs a foster family or forever home.

🛑 STOP SCROLLING AND READ ABOUT BOOMER 🛑 This handsome guy is Boomer, and he needs out NOW. He is such a great dog – good with people and with other dogs. He is good in the kennels where he’s not seen. He is not doing well in the kennels where the public can see him as he gets too overstimulated with all the barking and being able to see everything, including other dogs in kennels and people. He just wants to be hanging out with everyone. Unfortunately, no one wants to visit a dog who jumps and spins because he is stressed. We are looking for a foster for him. Outside of the kennels in our main area, he is sweet as can be and had the best time playing with his friends in playgroups yesterday. We just know that if we can give him place to decompress and get amazing pictures and videos of him, we can show potential adopters the fantastic dog that he is 🥰 He is also available for adoption. When you meet him, you’ll see just how amazing he is! Come by and ask for Boomer (A164394). We’re here from 11am – 5pm on the weekdays and 11am – 4pm on Saturdays, including this Saturday! As we head into the warmer Spring/Summer months, we are seeing an increase of Parvovirus at the Pasadena Animal Adoption Center (commonly known as “parvo”). Unfortunately, because of this, the Center will be closed effective immediately until Monday, May 1st.

All of our dogs housed at the Pasadena Animal Adoption Center are currently in quarantine due to the exposure. In an effort to avoid possibly spreading the virus, we will be closed for walk-in adoptions. Dogs who have not been recently housed in our facilities and are currently in foster homes or are with boarding partners will still be available for adoption. We will also be closed for all stray and owner-surrender intakes. Please note that the Pasadena Animal Shelter building is still closed due to the damage caused by the tornado on January 24, 2023.

Parvovirus is a very contagious illness spread through the feces and saliva of infected dogs. Unvaccinated dogs, especially puppies, are most vulnerable. Parvovirus can survive in the soil for up to a year where an infected dog went to the bathroom, so it is important to not let your unvaccinated dog/puppy walk on public grassy areas or in dog parks. The best way to protect your pet is by making sure he or she is vaccinated against Parvovirus. These vaccinations are available through your vet or mobile vaccine clinics.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the closure of our facility. If you have an animal you need to rehome or turn in as stray, please give us a call at 713-848-5430, and we’ll be glad to talk to you about resources available to you.

The Animal Shelter is still putting the joint back together and could use a lot of Amazon trash (cardboard).

Happy Monday! We hope you had a wonderful Easter weekend! We are in need of cardboard! Because we are unable to use the shelter due to the repairs, we are still only operating out of our much smaller Adoption Center. We are trying to function with our very limited capacity by using pop-up crates. Therefore, we are going through cardboard like crazy! If you have any cardboard boxes you can donate, you may drop them by the Pasadena Adoption Center at 5160 Burke Road. We are open Monday-Friday, 9am – 5pm, and Saturdays, 11am – 4pm. Before or after hours, they can be left outside our front door. We appreciate you all so much! ❤️🐾

We are ready to send him to the vet to have the leg taken care of but he really needs a foster, adopter or a 501c3 rescue, so that he can heal in a quiet, stress-free environment. Cuddlebug Hollie is retired looking for a good family to call her own. Bags packed. Shelter opens at 11am

Are you looking for a calm cuddlebug to take slow strolls with? Then, look no further than this 8-year-old beauty! Hollie (A164240) came in with two small dogs who left the shelter quickly, but Hollie stayed for a little longer. Fortunately, some awesome people stepped up to take her into their home until she found her furever home 🥰 #fosteringsaveslives Her fosters say that she is seriously so easy, submissive, respectful, and amazing. She still has some spunk in her and would probably enjoy a family! She and her foster sibling sweetly share food, bed, toys, and humans ❤ Hollie’s adoption fee is waived through March 31st for Bark Madness, and she will be spayed as well as receive a microchip and a rabies vaccine. If you are interested in Hollie, please complete our online application, and one of our Adoption Counselors will contact you to make an appointment for the foster to bring her to meet you. https://www.pasadenatx.gov/FormCenter/Animal-Adoption-and-Foster-Applications-10 Pasadena Adoption Center

Animal Shelter’s fixing to have Olive’s leg cut off and hims needs a quiet place to recover.

This cutie with the 2 different colored eyes is Olive (A164026) 😍 He is a 7-month-old Lab mix who came in with an injured back leg and needs a leg amputation. We are ready to send him to the vet to have the surgery, but he really needs a foster or adopter, so that he can heal in a quiet, stress-free environment. We will pay for the surgery; he just needs your TLC ❤

Animals with legs amputated adapt really well to the limb loss, so if you’re concerned about his quality-of-life post-surgery, you have nothing to worry about! This will actually make his life easier and better because he won’t be in pain. He will be just as great a pet as any four-legged dog!

Olive’s adoption fee is waived for the Bark Madness event, and in addition to the leg amputation, he will be neutered, receive a rabies vaccine, and have a microchip implanted. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the application at https://www.pasadenatx.gov/509/Deciding-to-Adopt. For questions, please email [email protected].

Howie came into the Animal Shelter pretty rough looking. Check out his after pictures.

This guy right here is one reason why fostering is so important. Howie (A162183) came in a complete mess. He was so sweet but had a horrible skin infection. We started treating him here, but it was once he went in to foster that he became completely unrecognizable, for the better! Being able to heal in a quiet, stress-free environment is key and turned him from a balding, stinky mess into this handsome fella with gorgeous, shiny fur 😍🥰 Howie is available for adoption, so if you’re interested, please complete the application and one of our Adoption Counselors will contact you to schedule an appointment to meet him. https://www.pasadenatx.gov/FormCenter/Animal-Adoption-and-Foster-Applications-10 Howie is neutered, has his rabies vaccine, and a microchip, and his adoption fee is waived through March 31st for the Bark Madness event. Foster Friday is high energy lover Abigail.

It’s Foster Friday, so check out sweet Abigail who is currently in foster (A163679) 😍🥰 This is what her foster has to say about her: “She loves attention, she is laid back for the most part. She plays for a little while when she is excited but also loves her sleep. (And she snores 😄). She is house trained but doesn’t ask to go out, we just periodically take her out. Super loving!” She also says that her idea of playing is basically rolling around (so cute!) and will play with toys a little. She is great with her teenaged son but have not had her around small children. Abigail is spayed, has her rabies vaccine, and a microchip, and her adoption fee is waived through March 31st for Bark Madness! If you’re interested in meeting Abigail, please complete the application, and one of our Adoption Counselors will contact you to schedule a time for you to come meet her. https://www.pasadenatx.gov/FormCenter/Animal-Adoption-and-Foster-Applications-10 Pasadena Adoption Center
