The 86th Police Cadet Class and PISD officers took on ALERRT training, mastering the art of responding to active attacks with precision.

The 86th Police Cadet Class and officers from the Pasadena ISD Police Department participated in the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) class this week. The Texas State Legislature and the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement have mandated that all Texas State Law Enforcement officers attend this 16-hour course every two years.

ALERRT is a tactical course designed to train first responders in the concepts and principles of responding to an active attack or active shooter event. It is the national standard for active shooter training and has been adopted by the FBI and other federal agencies as their training program. Pasadena has several adjunct instructors who delivered the course, which covers topics such as approaching and entering the attack site, interior movement and room entry, medical/casualty care, improvised explosive devices, incident command structure, reality-based scenarios, and mental preparedness.

Once completed, the attendees/students will understand the basic concepts and principles of how to respond to an active attack and be able to seamlessly coordinate with other ALERRT-trained agencies in the event of an attack.

We want to thank Pasadena Police ISD for joining our cadets for this training and Thompson Intermediate for letting the cadets utilize the school for training. Pasadena ISD Police Officers Association
