VEHICLE PURSUIT AND OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING
At approximately 10:15 AM this morning, Precinct 8 Deputies were involved in a multi-agency vehicle pursuit that originated in the area of the Gulf Fwy. near Scarsdale Blvd. During the pursuit, the driver of the suspect vehicle fired multiple gunshots at pursuing Deputies. The chase continued southbound on the Gulf Fwy. for over 30 minutes and ended in the 5500 block of Broadway near 54th Street in the city of Galveston where the vehicle came to a stop. Following the conclusion of the chase, the armed driver exited the vehicle at which time an officer involved shooting occurred. At this time, the suspect has been pronounced deceased as a result of this incident. No deputies or officers were injured.
