Night shift patrol officers caught a burglary suspect window-shopping in the middle of the night with a flashlight—except the suspect forgot to bring money and instead brought a criminal record. When he was confronted by officers, he took off running and tossed a backpack full of stolen property.
Officer C. Johnston quickly coordinated a game plan while Officer Doskocil deployed a PPD drone. Thanks to the quick thinking and proactive nature of our officers, we knew exactly where the suspect was at all times. He started strong, with a brisk run; but unfortunately for him: if you flee, Pasa-get-DRONE-dena will fly!
After his short-lived sprint, he continued his nightly stroll and frolicked through one of Pasadena’s beautiful fields full of rainbows, butterflies, and unicorns. He attempted to jump over yet another fence (and the butterflies wanted no part in aiding him in his getaway), so after being defeated in his first attempt, he decided to try another section of the fence. (The fence was probably shorter on the other end… right?) After making it over the “shorter end of the fence,” he concluded his cardio session with a cool-down walk to where he would “hide” from Officers.
Little did he know, PPD knew his location, and Officers safely approached the suspect and arrested him. Oh, and that backpack he ditched? It was full of over $1,300 in stolen items! The items were returned to the owner, and the suspect earned himself a free ride to Harris County Jail.
