🚨 SCAM ALERT – PLEASE SHARE 🚨
We’ve received multiple reports of a phone scam where individuals are receiving calls from someone claiming to be with the La Porte Police Department. The caller ID may even display our department’s name or number, but these calls are NOT from us.
The scammer tells the victim they have an active warrant and must pay money immediately to avoid arrest. They may ask you to:
đź”´ Buy gift cards
đź”´ Make payments over the phone
đź”´ Share personal or financial information
The La Porte Police Department will never:
✔️ Call you to request or collect money
✔️ Ask you to purchase gift cards or make payments by phone
✔️ Handle any court-related issues over the phone
All official court proceedings and warrant notifications are handled by mail or in person, not over a phone call.
👉 If you receive one of these calls, hang up immediately. Do not give out any personal information, and report the call to us.
