When Precinct 2 Deputies approached a 🤡 at the Sims Bayou encampment, he found out there’s more than one way to be identified.

Deputies at Constable Jerry Garcia’s office, responded to a report of a homeless encampment alongside the Sims Bayou. This location has a trespass affidavit on file, prohibiting unauthorized individuals from being on-site.

Upon arrival, deputies made contact with a male subject and offered him resources for his displacement, which he declined. When asked to provide identification for a written trespass warning, the male gave a false name. Deputies utilized the Mobile AFIS device and positively identified him as Joseph III Morris.

A records check revealed that Morris had two active felony warrants issued by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. He was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and accepted charges for Failure to Identify as a Fugitive and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Morris was placed into custody and transported to the Harris County Joint Processing Center.
