When tragedy befell the Hill County, PPD’s Community Engagement Unit mobilized quickly, coordinating a clothing donation to help those affected by the devastating floods.

When disaster strikes, it’s hard for anyone to know what they can do to help. Harder still, when your everyday job is to be the one to help the community. But, what do you do when it’s not your community that needs the support?

Our Community Engagement Unit knew Kerr County and the areas affected by the Fourth of July floods were inundated with first responders. So, they took a step back and worked locally to prepare a donation that would be so important once those communities took a breath and began to figure out how life continues after such a devastating incident.

Officer Kendall Haesly coordinated with Kerr County Precinct 3 Constable Paul Gonzales to prepare a clothing donation. With the monumental support and generosity of Pasadena Sporting Goods, our Community Engagement Officers made a huge clothing delivery to help flood victims in Kerrville, Hunt and Ingram.

Then, while near Kerrville, in remembrance of one of our own fallen officers, Larry Dale Candelari, the Unit stopped to pay their respects at his memorial site.
