Barbara and Ed invite you to explore their remarkable connections to early space travel January 14th at Central Library.

Authors Barbara Radnofsky and Ed Supkis both grew up amongst family friends who worked in the NASA Crew Systems Division in the 1960s and 70s. In fact, Barbara’s father was chief of the division and was part of the team locked in a room with the same materials on board Apollo 13 to help the astronauts fix the problem with carbon dioxide scrubbers depicted in the movie.

Come and hear from them about early space travel with a focus on family and friends, especially the friendship between Alan Shepard and close family friend and barber Carlos Villagomez and the golf ball the astronaut gave him immediately after hitting a ball on the moon and returning to earth. Join us at the Central Library (1201 Jeff Ginn Memorial Dr.) on Tuesday, January 14 at 5:30 p.m.
