Deputy Gonzales with Precinct 8 pulled a traffic stop on a couple of 🤡’s and ended up having to write a lot of paperwork.

TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO MULTIPLE ARRESTS

On Monday, October 24, 2023 at approximately 3:47 AM, Precinct 8 Deputy P. Gonzales with Constable Phil Sandlin’s Office initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle displaying expired registration in the 700 block of W Bay Area Blvd. A check of the vehicle’s license plate revealed it was expired as of September 2020.

Deputy Gonzales approached the vehicle and detected the odor of marijuana emitting from inside the vehicle. The driver was identified as 37 year old Julius Edward Cruz and the passenger was identified as Daisi Bazaldua. Deputy Gonzales conducted a probable cause based search of the vehicle and located marijuana and .32 grams of methamphetamine. Further investigation revealed the passenger provided false identifying information and was positively identified as 41 year old Jamie Nicole Handley. A check of Handley’s information revealed two open felony warrants for Burglary of Habitation and Unauthorized Use of Vehicle.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and accepted charges for Possession of a Controlled Substance on Cruz and Fail to ID to Peace Officer/Fugitive on Handley. Both subjects were transported to the Harris County Joint Processing Center where Cruz’s bond was set at $500 and Handley’s bond was set at $2,500.
