Congratulations to all seven-brand-new Probationary Police Officers (PPOs) recently sworn in by La Porte Police Chief Scott Pullig. The cadets, having just graduated from the University of Houston-Downtown’s police academy, will now begin an extensive training phase with certified Field Training Officers from the La Porte Police Department. The recent graduates are the first group in La Porte’s resurrection of their Civil Service Entrance Exam process, which hires the prospective officers, send them to a local certified academy, and then trains the PPOs in Department processes over the next six months.
