Officer Jillian Basilone was honored as November Officer of the Month by Deer Park Rotary 5890 for her heroic actions in apprehending an armed robbery suspect.

On Wednesday, November 8, 2023, Officer Jillian Basilone was recognized as November Officer of the Month by Deer Park Rotary 5890.
On 10/03/23, Officer Basilone was dispatched to assist officers with an armed robbery that had just occurred at a local gas station. Officer Basilone arrived in the area and observed a male matching the description of the suspect walking nearby. Officer Basilone radioed her location and attempted to contact the male, but he fled on foot. Without hesitation, Basilone chased the male on foot and while running, she observed a handgun fall from his waistband to the ground. Basilone continued to give updated locations over the radio and responding officers arrived to assist. The male was subsequently located and placed into custody. Charges were ultimately accepted for Aggravated Robbery and this arrest also led to a Theft of Firearm investigation after it was determined the gun the suspect possessed was stolen.
We commend Officer Basilone for her bravery during this incident and personal sacrifice to protect the citizens of Deer Park.
