PISD Superintendent Dr. Lopez celebrated Jesus Gomez’s remarkable achievement as the national winner of the Roberts Copperton Inspirational Award at Dobie.

Dobie OMEGA and Art department students proudly experienced the vibrant mural completion in the sensory room, celebrating creativity in motion.

We would like to spotlight a great collaboration between our OMEGA and Art department. Today we held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate our art students hard work on completing a mural in the newly launched sensory room. We also enjoyed seeing our OMEGA students getting a first look at the room. Special thanks to our student creative director, Xavier Rubalcava and his dedicated assistants: Khloe Coronado, Misha Santana, Yanaiza Nino, and Mane Avetisyan. It’s always great whenever students get to see their creations not only become reality, but also see how it can impact someone else’s life. Way to go Longhorns!

Cassandra’s a talented Senior at Dobie who’s won the Congressional District Art Competition, bringing her artwork to the nation’s Capitol.

Senior Visual Arts student, Cassandra Perez, of Dobie High School has won the 29th Congressional District Art Competition. Her artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year, and she will be honored at an award ceremony in Washington, D.C. At yesterday’s local ceremony, hosted by Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia, her teacher, Ms. Finley, proudly celebrated this incredible accomplishment with her.

Attention Class of 2025! It’s time to sign up for the Elementary Walk! Seniors have the option to go back to their elementary school in their cap and gown to be celebrated on May 19, after Senior Breakfast. (Students are released from the breakfast at 10:00 and are responsible for their own transportation to their elementary campus.) Students who did not attend a PISD elementary may choose any campus!

Cheers to Dobie ECHS students Andrew and Jesus for showcasing their remarkable research at NCUR 2025 in the vibrant Pittsburgh.

Congratulations to Dobie ECHS students Andrew Ullman, and Jesus Gómez, who are at NCUR 2025 in Pittsburgh. Hosted at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, the theme is ‘Engaging Minds. Empowering Students.’ Andrew Ullman will be presenting his research on Applying Machine Learning to Find Pricing Patterns in Chemicals, and Jesus Gómez researched Analyzing Trends and Variations of Nitrogen Dioxide Pollution: Using Data from Pandora Spectrometer, EPA, and OMI sensors.

Dobie bowler Zaniya triumphed at the All-District State tournament paired perfectly with Gio’s hard work for a team showdown.

Congratulations to Zaniya McClain for placing first in the All-District State tournament. Zaniya also placed 4th at the Texas High School Bowling State Tournament.

Congratulations to Gio Melendez for his part in helping the Pasadena All District Varsity Boys team obtain second place at the All-district State tournament.

Last week, the unstoppable Dobie Bands harmonized everyone at the UIL concert, grabbing multiple Superior ratings and a well-deserved Sweepstake victory.

Last week, the Dobie Bands participated in the UIL Region 19 Band Concert & Sightreading Evaluation while also hosting the three-day event. The 6A Sub Non-Varsity the Dobie 9th Grade Symphonic Winds earned a Sweepstakes with Superior ratings in both Concert and Sightreading. In 6A Non-Varsity, the Dobie Symphonic Band earned a Superior rating in Sightreading, and our 6A Varsity Wind Ensemble earned unanimous Superior ratings in both Concert & Sightreading to complete the coveted UIL Sweepstakes! Congratulations to all our band students!

Dobie Theatre’s talented team lit it up as they snag Tommy Tune Award finalist spots for their fabulous SpongeBob musical.

Dobie Theatre’s production of The SpongeBob musical has garnered two coveted Tommy Tune Awards Finalist spots! Sophia Carbajal, Julianne Garcia, and Abigail Kaydahzinne are finalists for Stage Management and Mr. Hamlin is a finalist for Scenic Design. The Tommy Tune Awards will be June 6 at Theatre Under the Stars.

What an exhilarating day for the Dobie Varsity Guard as they won their way to third place and a ticket to state.

Today, the Dobie Varsity Guard competed in the Texas Color Guard Circuit East Area Championships, which is the state qualifying event for our activity. We placed 3rd in our round, and WE HAVE ADVANCED TO STATE at Texas A&M’s Reed Arena on 3/29!!! Times are TBD, but should be posted in the next few days.

Dobie’s strong man Jaxson is making waves in powerlifting, having crushed 860 pounds and earned his spot at the upcoming State Championship.

Jaxson Canales, a freshman, competed in the 114-pound weight class at the Regional competition and qualified for the State Championship in Powerlifting. He lifted a total of 860 pounds combined in the Bench Press, Squat, and Deadlift. The State Championship will take place on March 22nd in Abilene. Congratulations to Jaxson and his coach, Reginald Rice!

The Grand Champion Lariaettes jazz handed everyone with their skills, while the Lassos stole the spotlight with an incredible first-place Pom routine.

Congratulations to the Grand Champion Lariaettes! They were awarded Grand Champions of their division, and Overall Reserve Grand Champs of the whole contest. They were awarded 11 others as well for officers, companies, and team dances.
The Lassos were also in attendance and won first place in their division for their Pom routine. In the JV Pom category they were also the overall Pom winner against all other JVs in the contest.

Two outstanding Dobie visual arts students soared to the top, representing the district at the Houston Rodeo Art Auction with stunning masterpieces.

We are proud to announce that 2 of our Dobie visual arts students will be part of this year’s Houston Rodeo Art Auction. They are in the top 0.3% out of 32,000 entries, earning their spot in the 90 lots that will be auctioned off for cash prizes! Fourteen art pieces from our district were selected to go to Auction, Madeline Amaya’s art piece came out being one of the highest from our school district and took home the Class Champion Monochromatic Award.

Dobie proudly celebrates their talented students’ success in the Rodeo Austin Youth Art Show, showcasing their creativity and hard work.

We are excited to share the results of the recent art competition, highlighting the achievements of our students. The 2025 Rodeo Austin Youth Art Show featured 500 entries across Texas from junior and senior divisions. Notably, Veronica Palacios secured 9th place in the Sculpture category. In the Traditional Senior division, Jocelyn Delgado earned 8th place, and Sophia Gonzalez received Reserve Champion award. All top 20 entries in the Traditional Senior division will move to auction. We thank the art department for their hard work and dedication in nurturing our talented artists.

On February 2nd Dobie girls can showcase their flag football talent and potentially earn scholarships.

On February 2, more than 25 colleges at the NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA levels offer scholarships for female flag football. The Houston Texans Girls Flag College Showcase will offer opportunities for girls to hear from prominent women in football, showcase their skills through a pro-style workout and competition, and potentially earn a scholarship to play at the collegiate level. The Dobie academic decathlon team soared to new heights with more medal than Tupac’s teeth and a ticket to San Antonio for the next challenge.

Our academic decathlon team placed fourth among the large schools in Region V this weekend! We are extremely proud of all their hard work and dedication. 🏆
We walked away with 16 individual medals, including thenumber one student in the Scholastic category! A huge congratulations to senior Jesus Gomez for earning the top spot in the Scholastic category, along with:
• 🥇 Gold Medal in Economics
• 🥈 Silver Medal in Music
• 🥉 Bronze Medals in Math, Literature, and Social Science

The Dobie Football Team and F.C.A. joined forces, brightening the holidays for young kids at local elementary schools with their third annual toy drive.

Dobie Football Team and F.C.A teamed up for our 3rd annual toy drive. This was a great opportunity to spread some holiday cheer and give hope to young kids in our community. With all of the donations and support, they were about to serve Stuchberry, Frazier, and Moore Elementary schools this holiday season!
