Long time Dobie teacher Ms. Whatley retires after 32 years of service. Congratulations!

Happy Retirement to Tracy Whatley! Ms. Whatley has been a member of the Dobie Longhorns community for 32 years, first as a student and then as a teacher.

Tracy has taught History, Biology, Environmental Systems, and AP Environmental Science. She sponsored Student Council, and her classroom was where students learned about caring for orphaned native wildlife by working with Wildlife Rehabilitators. Tracy’s students participated in Envirothon, an outdoor competition where teams won multiple awards. She led the environmental club in building a small butterfly garden in partnership with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife called the “Barry Harris Memorial Butterfly Garden.”

According to Tracy, the bravest thing she’s ever done was act in the faculty production of the play “Steel Magnolias” alongside the talents of Lauren Calderaro, Rachel Rodriguez, Nicole Johnson, Tracy Richeson, and Juliet Rogers under the direction of Clinton Hopper.

We wish you all the best! You will be missed!! #DobiePride #OnceALonghornAlwaysALonghorn

As she approaches retirement, Tracy knows she has one chance to make the most of it and takes it very seriously. Like many retirees, she plans to travel with family and friends and explore nature.
