At the CTHS, freshman and sophomore computer maintenance students have been learning how to replace RAM and hard drives. This hands-on learning experience allows students to gain practical skills in computer hardware. They are taught the proper procedure for safely opening the computer casing, identifying the RAM slots and hard drive connections, and removing and replacing the components. This knowledge is crucial in troubleshooting and upgrading computers. The students are given real-life scenarios to solve, enabling them to develop problem-solving skills. Overall, this practical training equips the students with valuable abilities in computer maintenance and repair.

It was great spending time with our new CTE teachers yesterday. They are excited and ready to start and we can’t wait for our students to meet them! A BIG thank you to Kimmie Longstreet (22-23 New Teacher of the Year from SHHS) for sharing first year survival tips with them.

Throw back to just a few weeks ago when Criminal Justice teacher Dr. Melissa Ryan earned the Teacher of the Year honor for CTHS Pasadena ISD and Business teacher Kimmie Longstreet earned the New Teacher of the Year honor for South Houston High School for 2023! Congratulations to these amazing educators! #PISDCTE #CTE #CTEAllStars #TOY #NTOY #teacheroftheyear #newteacheroftheyear This pretty much sums it up: I am so honored to have been named South Houston High School’s New Teacher of the Year 22-23. Deciding to return to work as a teacher was one of the hardest decisions I have made, as I thought that choice meant I was leaving my two babies to do this world without me. We had been just the 3 of us for over 5 years. What I didn’t realize then, was that I was actually gaining almost 100 more kids that I got to call my own. I hope they learned half as much from me as I learned from them this year. I have loved them each as my own, and we all had our bad days but they were outnumbered by our great days! Pasadena ISD welcomed me with open arms and gave this Mama exactly what she needed to be successful, more kids to love, teach and inspire. What an amazing and fun first year! So excited for a whole new set of kids next year and to watch my former students take on this world and do great things! Enter with Honor, Exit with Pride, Go Trojans!
The HOSA International Leadership Conference was held last in Dallas last week. Ms. Barrett and her students from South Houston High School (Bryanna and Alexis) had an amazing experience! They attended officer
training, competed in career development and in an anatomy competition. Also, they met students from all over the world, attended the NTHS (National Technical Honor Society) reception, met one of the area 6 and Texas State Officers, traded state pins, and much more! They are entering the new school year with many new ideas and leadership skills! We can’t wait to see all of their success in the 2023-2024 school year!PISD Career Tech PISDCTE,CTE,CTEAllStars,HOSA,HOSAILC
