The City is stepping up trash collection efforts after Beryl, working 7 days a week for debris clean-up.

🗓️In an effort to expedite storm debris collection while also maintaining regular sanitation routes, City of Pasadena sanitation crews will now be working 7 days a week.

➕ 𝗪𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗱𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝘂𝗽 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘃𝘆 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝗱𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗶𝘀, 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗯𝘀, 𝘀𝗵𝗿𝘂𝗯𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀.

🚛City of Pasadena sanitation crews and Frontier Waste will continue their regular routes.

🌳Moving forward…please do not use black trash bags for larger tree limbs, branches or shrubbery, this prevents debris removal contractors from identifying debris.

🍃However, smaller debris such as leaves or small twigs may be bagged and placed with your residential trash. Please place larger items in a separate pile on its own.

🆘When placing your trash and storm debris at the curb please separate your waste into the following 3 piles:
1. Tree limbs, branches and other shrubbery
2. Heavy trash
3. Regular trash and/or recycling

🌀Storm recovery can be a gradual process, but we are confident that our community will continue to come together as we have always done. Thank you in advance for your cooperation understanding and patience.

Pasadena Little League and the community is grateful for the support from our leaders and sponsors this season.

Wow!!!! It’s awesome to have your community leaders on your side thank you for everyone that played a part this season. Pasadena Little League and the community are grateful for your dedication to the future of our City!!!! God Bless!!!!
At our most recent City Council Meeting, we had many special guests— team members of the Pasadena Little League! Coach Nick Cantu spoke in front of the council and thanked everyone for their generosity in sponsoring 26 kids.
We recently learned that many families in the Pasadena Little League could not afford the signup fee to play on the baseball team, so we collaborated with our community, and several individuals were eager to help!
We are so grateful to our community and the efforts to ensure that kids in our community would be able to play baseball. Sponsorships were provided by the City of Pasadena, Texas – Government Director Rex Lindberg, Pasadena Chamber of Commerce, and several Councilmembers:
Councilman Emmaunel Guerrero
Councilman Ornaldo Ybarra
Councilman Thomas Schoenbein
Councilman Ruben Villarreal
Councilman Dolan Dow
Along with Gringo’s business owner Mr. Russell Ybarra, Attorney at Law Mr. Bernardo Aldape III, Mrs. Jennifer Silva, Mrs. Angela Shem, Miss Drew Garza, Devon Hallford, Officer C. Cardenas (Seabrook P.D.), and Officer D. Garza (Pasadena P.D.).
We thank Mayor Jeff Wagner for throwing the first pitch at the opening game, Police Chief Jerry Wright for sponsoring a child, and for leading the parade on opening day in the P.D. Mustang with Officer M. Aguirre. We also thank our Fire Marshall Chief Brannon for being onboard and bringing his crew with fire trucks for the parade.
The Pasadena Police Department is honored to serve and protect our generous and thoughtful community.

Parks and Recreation tip: Don’t be a crape murderer.

🫣↔️DON’T DO THIS TO YOUR CRAPE MYRTLES!!! The City of Pasadena’s Parks and Landscaping team recommends following Texas A&M Forest Service’s guidelines below. Although many have been struggling because of recent freezes and droughts, if you prune and maintain your crape myrtles properly, they will bloom beautifully!!

Texas A&M Forest Service:  “Crape myrtles are a common and beautiful sight in landscapes across Texas. Unfortunately, the practice known as “crape murder” is also a common sore-eyed sight seen this time of year. While winter months are typically a good time to prune trees, crape murder is an incorrect pruning practice that removes the entire top of the tree each year, also known as topping.

It’s a common myth that this practice is needed to create brilliant blooms or reduce the height of the tree. In reality, crape murder promotes the vigorous growth of many, weakly attached shoots from each cut. Done year after year, crape murder can lead to disfiguration and the decline of the tree.
So, how can we stop and prevent this practice?
First, when planting crape myrtles, select the right variety for the space. Look up the mature height of your selection before planting to ensure it won’t outgrow the space.
Next, prune to maintain the natural form of the tree. Less is typically more here. Focus on removing dead, dying, broken, diseased or rubbing branches and suckers that grow from the base of the tree.
Finally, help spread the word that crape murder should be stopped and together, maybe we can bring this crime to an end
