Following historically low rates of theft among Hyundai vehicles, thefts began to spike in the summer 2022 in response to videos posted by car thieves on TikTok and other social media channels in what became known as the “Kia Challenge.”
In response to the increase in thefts, Hyundai has introduced a free anti-theft software upgrade for affected customers.
