PPD’s Susan Clifton retired from the force leaving a legacy of leadership and service. Congratulations!

Several family members, friends, and co-workers (past and present) gathered to celebrate Susan Clifton’s retirement on Friday.
Susan was born and raised in the Houston area and attended Sam Houston State University on a softball scholarship. While she attended college, she worked at the Texas Department of Corrections for nearly five years before she came to the Pasadena Police Department in June of 1989.
Susan’s unwavering resolve propelled her to achieve several promotions, including Sergeant in 1996, Lieutenant in 2004, and Assistant Chief in 2013. She is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and invested time in several divisions, including patrol, the training academy, internal affairs, special operations, and special investigations. She also played a crucial role in developing and establishing the Domestic Violence Unit when she became a Sergeant.
While achieving professional milestones, her competitive nature guided her to evolve and grow in her personal life. She returned to Sam Houston State University and completed her Masters in Criminal Justice Leadership and Management.
Susan embodies the qualities of a role model and has been instrumental in leading numerous individuals to success. When she began her law enforcement career in the 80’s, there were very few female officers in policing. Despite facing numerous obstacles, she demonstrated remarkable mental and physical fortitude, ultimately paving the way for females in law enforcement.
Her attentive listening, dependability, and caring nature make her a trusted and valued leader and friend. Many people have expressed gratitude for her mentorship and eagerness to help however she could.
Her retirement is a well-earned milestone, and we extend our warmest wishes for the many adventures ahead.
