Precinct 8 TCOLE instructors are attending Axon Virtual Reality Instructor Training. Once completed, Precinct 8 instructors will be certified in VR Simulator and Community Engagement training. All sworn personnel will be required to attend this training. Deputies will develop skills and de-escalation tactics when dealing with victims in crisis and individuals experiencing a mental health episode. The simulator training also focuses on target assessment, drawing, targeting at different distances, and handling challenges like clothing variations, body positions and movements. Deputies will also work on improving their speed, accuracy and confidence under stress.
